When king Solomon was asked by God what he wanted in a dream, he asked for wisdom. King Solomon could’ve asked for anything, and he asked to be wise. ‘He chooses an understanding heart. Wisdom, so he can make good decisions for his people. And God is so pleased with Solomon’s choice that He gives him every other good gift, too.’ King Solomon understood the unimportance of material things in comparison with wisdom and obedience to God. He knew his riches were only temporary, and he sought to be loved by God more than anything else. He went on to build one of the greatest temples in Jerusalem known to mankind.
When the Lord refers to Solomon in the New Testament, he uses him as an example of why we should not worry. God reassures that the Lillies of the field are cared for, and we will be too. The Lord says, “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” Matthew 6:28-33). #NIV
Seek first the Kingdom of Righteousness, it’s a great reminder for all of us. Don’t worry about what you shall wear, eat, or drink—God will add all these things to you. What made King Solomon so special was that he sought. He was blessed by God and much was added to him.🤴✝️🕊
