A Review of The Hollow Man by Paul Hollis!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Hollow Man is a great action-packed book that pulls you in with its story, dialogue, and vivid images. I always appreciate an author who can write like this. It’s about a dictator who falls ill and then gets assassinated. I am not completely through all of it, but it has already left me on the edge of my seat. It’s one of those books you curl up in bed with and read with a warm cup of coffee. I think this would be great for the big screen.

It’s a page-turner, political, and a fun read. It also made me want to learn Spanish. There are depictions of church images, the scenery of Madrid and Catholic priests. It is all around very interesting. Each chapter is well-connected and leaves you wondering what will happen next. THIS BOOK IS A THRILLER.

I could visualize the explosion, and when something parted like ā€œthe red sea.ā€ I love the heroism. It kind of reminded me of the movie Die Hard or an Arnold Schwarzenegger film! I look forward to reading what will happen next and if the protagonist makes it out alive or not.

I am looking forward to the conclusion and know I will not be disappointed. The hero’s task is to watch over the prime minister but then to catch the evil enemy, Chaban, and stop terrorism that will spread and have far-reaching consequences. The hero is on a mission. I look forward to learning whether or not he accomplishes it. This book is a MUST READ.

The Writers that Changed My Life

I’m excited to be an author now. But IĀ beganĀ writing a long time ago. I won my first story contest in the second grade! I’ll never forget it. I won many. My teacher was so happy for me. She comprised a nice booklet with all my stories made of colorful construction paper. It was such an accomplishment!

At sixteen in the hospital I wrote after a bad vehicular accident. Hooked up to machines with a breathing tube down my throat, the first few weeks I had to write. It was the only way to communicate; I couldn’t talk.Ā I still have all my notesĀ of black marker scribbles on white and yellow cutouts.

I kept thick bible-sized journals while I was in college (they’ve since been shredded), and wrote just about every night. Some nights I wrote more than others depending upon what was going on in my life. Several years ago, I sent an email to aĀ writer in westĀ Michigan and askedĀ him for advice.

He directed me to a few conferences, and one of them was the Breathe Conference (https://breatheconference.com/home/)! He also told me I should get involved with an on-line group called Fellowship of Christian Writers. IĀ went through their application process and received a letter of acceptance!

I wrote a heartfelt email to all (800) members, andĀ was promptly responded to by a famousĀ editor! I closely followed his emails and promotional material andĀ learned how to write a book proposal. If you’reĀ interested, there are different formats. IĀ used “Formatting & Submitting Your Manuscript” by Chuck Sambuchino and the Editors of Writer’s Digest Books.

I also took a creative writing course by another one of the on-line groupĀ members. LastĀ year,Ā I was a part of a Writer’s Guild and it really helped. I watched live webinars with people like Donald Miller and DiAnn Mills. I had a chance to really study the craft with a wonderful writing coach and other speakers.

The authorsĀ who’ve mentored me have really blessed my life! You have to go after your dreams! Life is not meant for you to be complacent. Reach for the unattainable. Achieve what you never thought was possible! I’ve had the honor of sharing myĀ stories with thousands, and I hope to reach millions!

(ThisĀ article will be featured on the Breathe Writers Conference blog).

How to Celebrate HIS Story

I was sent these questions as a writing prompt from a Writer’s blog: As Christians who write, one aim is to give honor and glory to God. How has God used your story? How has the Holy Spirit inspired and encouraged you? Have you seen the fruit of God’s glory as a result?

When I began my writing journey about five years ago, I had no idea the amount of people it would help. I’ve written since I was a child, and as a teen my audience was myself. I wrote behind closed doors, but with the surge in technology and media we are capable of reaching A LOT more people! I’m sure you’re familiar with theĀ term ā€œplatformā€ if you are a writer. According to Google.com, a platform is a raised level surface on which people can stand. If you are on a raised surface and speaking from a podium more people can see you than if you are at eye level with everyone else.

As a writer, artist, musician, CEO, or salesman you need a platform. Many writers fear they won’t get noticed if they don’t have one. But your platform does not have to be huge. PublishersĀ are still lookingĀ for REALLY good writers, that’s why I’m involved in a Writer’s guild and Writer’s group. I work on my writing skills. So…back to my prompt, how has God used my story and encouraged me?! Many of us want to write for God, speak his name, speak of his glories, and the ways he has blessed us.

But God is not concerned with my popularity as much as he is concerned with my friendship. God is not concerned with how many followers I have on Facebook or Twitter. Before I got into this business, I prayed to remain humble no matter what, and to never seek fame in a way that’s destructive. I simply write to help others and share my experiences. I write to motivate, and in turn I am motivated when my writing touches someone’s heart. I celebrate HIS story daily by carrying my cross. And sometimes, it happens to be evident in my stories…

Breathe Christian Writers Conference

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to go to Breathe Christian Writers conference this weekend! I haven’t been to Breathe yet, and I’ve heardĀ great things about it. I love to meet new people, and I will be able meet writers in my home state of Michigan. It will be nice to get some questions answered and exchange information.

I’ve met many writers, but both of the conferences I’ve been to so far were outside of my state. I went to a conference in Las Vegas last year in October, then I went to another conference inĀ Las AngelesĀ earlier this year in March. I will stay closer to home.

I love this time of year – the fall! I look forward to the drive, relaxing, and staying in a nice hotel. It will be a short getaway, only for one night but it should be fun. I’m thinking of it as a gift to myself after a lot of hard work, and I want to celebrate the release of ā€œNot Without God,ā€ my book!

I also registered for a poetry workshop called ā€œPerspectives on Writing and the Poet’s Lifeā€ with Matthew Landrum. I’ve been really interested in poetry lately, and I’ve added a poetry section to my blog so I’m looking forward to the workshop.

Have you ever been to a Writers conference before? Did I peak your interest? You can learn a lot about writing, marketing, and speaking there. Let me know if you have any questions about what happens at a Writer’s conference, and I will be happy to answer in the comments.
