At its core, affiliate marketing is simply word-of-mouth. It’s what people have been doing for a long time: recommending things they like, trust, or believe in. Long before affiliate links existed, this is how businesses grew, ideas spread, and communities formed.
Affiliate marketing doesn’t only mean clicking on a link to make a commission off your friend’s or associate’s affiliation. It’s more! It’s recommendations by friends you trust that may gain you more business or even exposure, something that money can’t buy.
When someone shares a great book, a helpful tool, or a life-changing course with a friend or fan, they’re engaging in this type of business. Asking someone to click on your link so you may receive a small bonus from an affiliate can be tacky. The most successful affiliate marketers understand this. Marketing has more to do with than money.
The power of marketing and the power of groups who market together is ultra-powerful. Think of a dire situation. Let’s imagine you and five of your friends are sailing and you start to lose control of the sailboat. Not a pleasant thought, I know. But let’s consider it. I am sure one of your friends would come in to help! This is what your product is like when no one knows about it: a sinking sailboat.
The power of marketing, especially when groups collaborate, is strong. It’s a way for friends to lift one another up, to help stop the ‘out-of-control sailboat that is sinking.’ Affiliates act as advocates for their friends or business associates, lifting one another up in the process.
They’re not just dropping links; they’re guiding their communities, holding events, rooting for you, buying your book, recommending your business – it is truly powerful.
A trusted recommendation from someone you follow online can lead you to join a cause, sign up for a course, or try a new way of thinking — it’s about more than buying a product. In today’s day and age, especially if you are an author, it is critical.
Entrepreneurs, artists, and anyone in business all need a platform. A platform can consist of someone who is in your audience or even a potential buyer, for example. Your platform is what makes you stand out. Size matters.
With this said, I would like to introduce you to the way I do affiliate marketing. As a founder and creator, I’d like to introduce you to a group I began called “The Writing Because I Can’t Not Write Group.” Here are three upcoming events I’d love for you to join via Zoom to kickstart your affiliate marketing journey!

I hope your night is going well so far. As you know, I have been running the “Writing Because I Can’t Not Write Group – For aspiring and seasoned writers” for a year now. It has been such a joy to make new friends with such fantastic and dedicated writers. Many of which, are bestselling and award-winning authors, who are faithfully devoted to improving their craft and desiring to help other writers. Does it get any better?
One thing I’ve learned even more, although I always felt this before I started this group, is you have to build your tribe! Here are 3 reasons why:
Writing Can Be A Lonely Experience – even for those of us who are introverted. Writing alone for hours on end can make you feel lonely and even a bit depressed. Building a tribe helps you feel accepted, and it will help you make friends with like-minded individuals. You want to build your tribe!
A Tribe Is Great for Marketing Your Material – If you’re the only one who knows about your products that is spreading the word, your circle is smaller. Ever heard of “word of mouth” referrals? Can you imagine having 3 other people helping and cheering you on? How many more people can you reach with your books or messages? Now imagine having 10 people in your tribe or corner. Building a tribe is also a crucial marketing tool if you want to market a book, launch it first, have a book signing party, viewers for your podcast interview, etc. As a writer, you must build your tribe and start now.
Lastly, you will get to meet others with the same interests. There is a saying, “You attract the same energy you give out.” If your energy involves doing business as a writer or publisher, if you are into spreading your messages through books, speaking engagements, masterminds, or any other similar type of event or actions: then you’re bound to attract people like yourself into your circle. It is inevitable. Those people can really help you by being in your corner.
Now go out there and build your tribe! If you are interested in joining the “Writing Because I Can’t Not Write Group – For aspiring and seasoned writers,” get on my email list right away. You will get the weekly emails and reminders about Zoom Mastermind meetings with our wonderful list of authors that we special feature. You will be able to ask them questions and learn from them directly. This is an opportunity like no other. Nowhere else on the internet are people giving away FREE knowledge simply for the love of writing and to help others. At the same time, you can network and share information about your own career and writing. It’s a win-win for all!
Here is the contact form to get on the email list! Click below!
Also, here are some EXTRA notes for how we conduct the group in case you decide to join a weekly Zoom Mastermind meeting:
1) If you are eager to ask a question but others are talking – use the hand raise feature on Zoom, it is fabulous! 2) Whenever someone is finished reading their writing – always compliment them. Compliments make the writer feel good and know their work is appreciated. 3) Enter Zoom with your FULL name, so we can verify who you are. That is the best chance of entering. If you enter with a nickname such as iPhone2347, you will not be able to enter. 4) You can also use the chat box to communicate! 5) Please eliminate any background noise before entering. If noise comes in that disrupts the group your mic will be silenced. You may be unsilenced once it is quiet in the background.

Did you know that in order to to be successful with your book or business you need to be a great writer? Writing is needed whether you are an author or a business person. You also need to have marketing strategies and skills. Without things like social media marketing and a website, you can’t go very far in your work. You will learn from experts! This is a one-time event and has a limited number of occupants. Read the invite, click ‘going’ and grab your spot while you have a chance. Honesty is the best policy. When you keep your word, people know they can depend on you. When you stand by your promises or beliefs, people know you don’t waiver and are someone who can be trusted. They will trust you in business, friendship, and life. Marketing anything is about consistency. When you are consistent, people know what to expect. When you don’t keep commitments, it develops a lack of trust, especially if it happens repeatedly. People like routine. We aren’t into surprises. We like others who keep their word, do as they say, or give honest explanations when they don’t. If you want to know how to be successful at anything, be reliable.
