Why You Need a Tribe When You’re a Writer!

Hello everyone,

I hope your night is going well so far. As you know, I have been running the “Writing Because I Can’t Not Write Group – For aspiring and seasoned writers” for a year now. It has been such a joy to make new friends with such fantastic and dedicated writers. Many of which, are bestselling and award-winning authors, who are faithfully devoted to improving their craft and desiring to help other writers. Does it get any better?

One thing I’ve learned even more, although I always felt this before I started this group, is you have to build your tribe! Here are 3 reasons why:

  1. Writing Can Be A Lonely Experience – even for those of us who are introverted. Writing alone for hours on end can make you feel lonely and even a bit depressed. Building a tribe helps you feel accepted, and it will help you make friends with like-minded individuals. You want to build your tribe!
  2. A Tribe Is Great for Marketing Your Material – If you’re the only one who knows about your products that is spreading the word, your circle is smaller. Ever heard of “word of mouth” referrals? Can you imagine having 3 other people helping and cheering you on? How many more people can you reach with your books or messages? Now imagine having 10 people in your tribe or corner. Building a tribe is also a crucial marketing tool if you want to market a book, launch it first, have a book signing party, viewers for your podcast interview, etc. As a writer, you must build your tribe and start now.
  3. Lastly, you will get to meet others with the same interests. There is a saying, “You attract the same energy you give out.” If your energy involves doing business as a writer or publisher, if you are into spreading your messages through books, speaking engagements, masterminds, or any other similar type of event or actions: then you’re bound to attract people like yourself into your circle. It is inevitable. Those people can really help you by being in your corner.

Now go out there and build your tribe! If you are interested in joining the “Writing Because I Can’t Not Write Group – For aspiring and seasoned writers,” get on my email list right away. You will get the weekly emails and reminders about Zoom Mastermind meetings with our wonderful list of authors that we special feature. You will be able to ask them questions and learn from them directly. This is an opportunity like no other. Nowhere else on the internet are people giving away FREE knowledge simply for the love of writing and to help others. At the same time, you can network and share information about your own career and writing. It’s a win-win for all!

Writing Because I Can’t Not Write Group – For seasoned and aspiring authors

Also, here are some EXTRA notes for how we conduct the group in case you decide to join a weekly Zoom Mastermind meeting:

1) If you are eager to ask a question but others are talking – use the hand raise feature on Zoom, it is fabulous!
2) Whenever someone is finished reading their writing – always compliment them. Compliments make the writer feel good and know their work is appreciated.
3) Enter Zoom with your FULL name, so we can verify who you are. That is the best chance of entering. If you enter with a nickname such as iPhone2347, you will not be able to enter.
4) You can also use the chat box to communicate!
5) Please eliminate any background noise before entering. If noise comes in that disrupts the group your mic will be silenced. You may be unsilenced once it is quiet in the background.

Hooray! At my weight goal (it feels dreamy)!🎊🎈💭

Hallelujah! I’ve been this low but it’s been a couple years. This scale looks different from this time last year. I’ve lost 30 pounds or more!!🎉🥳🎈I’m not short and carry muscle. It feels good to have slimmed down. I’m still going for ten more!

#weightloss #goals #healthylifestyle #fitnessmotivation #paleo #mediterraneanchallenge #diet #healthy-living #goingfortenmore 😃🙏🎊

Do I look happy?😁🥑

Now I can scratch that off my bucket list. I am going for ten more or maybe even 15! But I wont stop on this journey of eating great food for health.

I just created a Facebook health page, please visit it and like it as well: https://www.facebook.com/Zinas-Healthy-Tips-to-Maximize-Health-112061191416124/

It’s Almost a New Year!🎈

This year has been incredible. I have accomplished two big goals, and I’m wrapping 2021 up nicely! I couldn’t be happier. I’m glad I didn’t wait to make ‘New Year’s Resolutions.’ Those typically don’t work out well for me. If you’re a little behind on things you want to accomplish, though, I recommend you do make a New Year Resolution. Better yet, I urge you to start now! This year I have lost a little weight and have kept it off. I also just completed my book, Not Without God: Hope In the Storm. It is available for pre-order right now!🎉 https://www.amazon.com/Not-Without-God-Hope-Storm-ebook/dp/B09P9T2DLT

What is it you’d like to accomplish in 2022? What are your goals? How will you go about achieving them? Another thing to think about: how can we better serve God in the New Year? At times I have failed at doing this, but since I owe all my success this year (and every year) to him–I’d like to do better!🎊

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:23-3:24).

We have to do our best!

Some people would like a clear map of where their life is going. But life can be unpredictable. That’s why we have to trust in God. We can work to make our dreams happen. God wants that. We can be ‘co workers’ with God to make our goals come alive so long as we do our part. What I mean is nothing will just happen if we don’t provide action. We have to plan and work hard. We have to ‘do our best’ and let God handle the rest. Doing our best can mean a lot. It can require hard work and sacrifice. This quote doesn’t say to only do half, nor does it say to only do your part. It says to ‘do your best.’ Are you doing your best in all areas? Are you falling short in some parts? Let’s reflect on this. How can we do our best for ourselves and those around us?

God’s not done

God isn’t finished with you. Don’t feel dismayed. Whatever it is you’re hoping for or trying to resolve is still an open case. Sometimes some obstacles need to be removed, and sometimes it’s a matter of timing. But God is working for you. We are continually evolving, and although the road seems steep or like you’ve lost your way, remember it’s about resilience. It’s about how many times you get back up, not how many times you fall. That thing you’re dreaming about can happen. But of course, you can’t be stagnant. There are steps you must take. Pay attention to the small steps. They are motivators to keep you going. Rome wasn’t built… God is not finished with you yet. He has not forgotten about you either. Try to stay out of your emotions. We are a culture taught to ‘feel,’ and if our feelings get hurt, it can mess up everything. Stay focused. Word hard. Make your goals happen. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all else should fall into place…

Writing, Speaking, and Media

Ever think about giving up? Don’t.

If you don’t try you will never know what God has in store. Stay the course.  We have the capability of improving our lives. Small steps are motivators!

I achieved my goal of walking a mile yesterday! I’m sore, but it’s worth it. I have to keep on going. As I think back, I’m disappointed—this time last year—I was up to one hour straight on the elliptical (doing more than 3 miles). I am not far from that, so I am going to shoot for 10,000 feet.

In the last several months, I have become a full time caregiver, not only distributing medicine, but making frequent visits, and sometimes staying in hospitals with loved ones for several hours. I’m an emergency contact. I’m an advocate and a “scheduler.”

I’m working on endurance when it comes to walking, though, and it’s really coming along. I keep track of my steps on a counter, and I’m increasing them. I’m so grateful for my life experiences, and for the friends I have made!

ed6547f2-71e6-4625-b8c8-0e6d8776c65f-e1562953387204.pngI’m excited about an upcoming trip to New York in the fall. I will be going to an event at Carnegie Hall! I will get to watch and learn from world-changers, speakers, experts, and authority figures who have made a difference. I will get to meet celebrities, also!

Being in NY will give me the greatest feeling, and I am really looking forward to it! My hard work has brought me here, the late nights, the lack of sleep, and the pain in my body from just sitting up and writing for so long has paid off.

I hope that my writing will one day have a big impact, and in some ways I believe it already has. I never gave up on my hope of walking after my accident; I was determined to have the career I always wanted, and it is very exciting to see that come to fruition.

We have an amazing God who always keeps his promises so long as we call on him! We all have burdens, to each his own, and they are not here to hinder us—but to make us better—to teach us patience, to be kind, and to love one another. God wants to perfect a great work in us!
