Plant seeds of faith

I have this desire. Sometimes I think everyone has it then I realize I’m mistaken. I want to help others through my writing. I want to help them heal. Yes, really. A lot of people. Many. Like thousands…maybe even a million! Does that make me vain?

Something really bad happened to me when I was younger. I knew that I would help others through it. My blog, “Spinal Cord Injury Solutions,” the one you’re reading now has been viewed almost 40,000 times! I would’ve never imagined.

I get emails of gratitude. I hear that I have helped others through sharing my story, and the thank yous are not only from people in the United States. I get emails from people in other countries. I wrote things I thought others already knew. I gave tips on how to overcome tragedy, and how to have faith.

I guess the world needs more of that. So I keep writing. I talked with a friend that thinks the end of the world is near. She can’t believe all that is happening. The massive killings, earthquakes in different parts, wars that never end, and all the atrocities. It deeply saddens me, but I don’t think the world is ending.

Martin Luther King just delivered his famous “I have a dream” speech in 1963, and that’s not very long ago. Women didn’t have the right to vote until the 1920s. I think the world is evolving. We still have a chance! I pray that things get better for us.

Change does not come easy. It has to start with you. It has to start with me. Let’s plant seeds. When we are long gone, our success won’t mean much. All we can leave is our mark. How would you like to be remembered by future generations?

Author: Zina Hermez

I'm a teacher, writer, and speaker. I got into publishing when I joined a Christian writers' group online where I met a few select authors who mentored me. My life changed. Through classes, webinars, and friendly emails, I've been encouraged to write. I started my blog to cope with my spinal injury in hopes of helping people.
