A poem✨

Today I want to share a poem I wrote when I was sixteen years old and at the University Hospital (Michigan Medicine). It’s an old poem, but I was reading through notes and thought it still has significance. So, here you go. I hope you enjoy it:

Life can change,
take it from me.

A young, healthy girl,
I never thought like this I would be.

Life was fun and carefree,
I went from school day to social gathering.

How did this happen to me?
There are doctors and nurses in my face.

As I awoke in a flash of five seconds,
a new life I hate.

I feel that I’m strong,
and hang in there.

But somethings I’ve lost,
I wouldn’t spare.

I’ll try very hard to get everything back,
the young life I want to live,
I didn’t want to lose that.

I appreciate everything from family to sun.
I have a new life and state of mind.

He will be with you

Good morning, when you go through deep waters, he will be with you–leading and guiding. Just ask him to. He’ll be there. You have direct access twenty four hours a day. God does not sleep or ever ignore you. His love is unconditional. He can be everywhere. Don’t doubt his presence because whether or not you acknowledge him, he’s there. He wants to hear from you. Your prayers can be simple. Some will tell you to ‘pray without ceasing,’ and I think that Bible verse is taken out of context. There is no impediment. God can hear you and you can hear from him too. It may not be easy to hear or to discern his voice, but that’s why it’s best to get away from the noise. Have a conversation. Journal. Listen to your intuition. What do you hear back? “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…” (Gal. 5:22-23). If it is these feelings you possess, you are hearing from the Lord!

God’s not done

God isn’t finished with you. Don’t feel dismayed. Whatever it is you’re hoping for or trying to resolve is still an open case. Sometimes some obstacles need to be removed, and sometimes it’s a matter of timing. But God is working for you. We are continually evolving, and although the road seems steep or like you’ve lost your way, remember it’s about resilience. It’s about how many times you get back up, not how many times you fall. That thing you’re dreaming about can happen. But of course, you can’t be stagnant. There are steps you must take. Pay attention to the small steps. They are motivators to keep you going. Rome wasn’t built… God is not finished with you yet. He has not forgotten about you either. Try to stay out of your emotions. We are a culture taught to ‘feel,’ and if our feelings get hurt, it can mess up everything. Stay focused. Word hard. Make your goals happen. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and all else should fall into place…

When Life Seems Difficult

It’s true. As a matter of fact, God’s presence should be more evident when life is hard. In our weakness, we are made strong. The closest I’ve ever felt to the Lord has been when times were tough, when it seemed there was no way out, no hope, and like I shouldn’t have faith, I heard God’s whispers in those days the most. As a child, I would go on bike rides nightly. I liked to experience the peace and be outside. I’d ride up and down our street until the sun went down. I vividly remember the Lord telling me, ‘This road will not be easy, Zina, but I will never leave you nor forsake you. In the end, you will be with me!’ It is in the ‘difficult’ times that I have thrived.💙🤍

How to pray and hear!

“When you pray you activate a switch, and God picks up on it!” It’s something I was thinking about today. Even when it feels like God doesn’t hear you or like your prayers are in vain—something is happening. You’ve opened the gateway. Now there are different forms of prayer. Whether you pray the Lord’s Prayer or utter, “Hey, God, can you help me today?” He heard you. Think of prayer as a channel to peace. Once you make a request, there is usually an unfolding of events. At first, you may hear from your intuition. At least, that’s how it happens for me. Often I feel like I have a direct connection with the Lord. Prayer doesn’t mean you will get your requests. But even when you don’t, keep the faith. God will compensate. For every prayer, there is an answer even when it appears there isn’t. You have to trust. Lately, I have dealt with an impossible situation. I did all I could to make it right. Finally, I just gave it to the Lord. I felt him telling me to let it go. Sound familiar? Well, anyway, I guess my point of this message is how we can better hear from God. Go into the silence, talk with him/pray, wait, listen, act. If you’re confused about what to do, remember every good and pure thought comes from above. Whatever is peaceful and right is God talking to you!💕💕💕

Be healed from the inside!

There are different ways you can heal. Healing is more than external. ‘You tell the story differently when you heal,’ but recovery does not have to only be on the outside. You must heal from within. The most significant transformation that can happen to you is when you’ve changed from the inside and then it reflects on the outside too. Many people get surprised at others who may accept and even rejoice in what seems to be ‘dire’ circumstances. But what people don’t understand is that internal healing comes to its peak after you realize you are healed from within, and all else will follow. Being healed is not a one-time thing or event either. The Bible states, ‘I am the Lord who continuously heals you.’ A walk with God is a lifetime experience. And it isn’t always easy. There may be hardship, rejection, or even abandonment. But God never promised us an easy life. He did promise we would get through it and, in the end, be with him!

God Is Able!

We sometimes go through hardship; I’d like to offer you some advice if you areI can now work out for well over an hour at the gym, and I don’t even recall envisioning it. I mean, I never dreamt I would be able to run on an elliptical. I imagined I was walking on a walker at sixteen after my accident and suffering paralysis, but using an elliptical has been a huge success.

My point is, God will take you even further than what you’ve dreamt. He has the capability. It’s a far stretch from where I was while in the hospital! I imagined myself walking even when I couldn’t sit for more than a minute. And now, all these years later, running on an elliptical?

Having faith has so much to do with what we envision. We don’t always realize that; sometimes, we think that having faith comes only through what we hear or learn. But faith comes through what we envision; imagination is a powerful tool, and what we dream up can become manifest.

I’ve been able to accomplish this because I envisioned it as a teenager. I expected it. We can see God through our imagination. I’ve heard from a famous pastor that it’s the closest we will ever get to seeing him while we’re here. Seeing God can be real if we stop rejecting him.

We reject seeing him because society teaches us that if we use our imagination, we are silly. Culture teaches us that as humans we are limited. Sometimes images just come to me while I’m praying. I see specs of light often, even rays of light I have seen before. Objects sometimes shake or rattle. I always saw this as God’s way of telling me his angels are near. I have heard God’s voice from deep within instructing me and even tell me what to do in critical moments.

It’s why my faith has been bigger than my fear.

I have studied physics for a year and a half, and all of the theories I’ve learned further prove God and his excellent existence! The fact is that the greatest physicists now say we are moving here through our imagination. We are made up of billions of atoms that can never die. All of this is true.

The Theory of entanglement holds true. These are Biblical principles taught to us through physics, but you would never know it without studying the universe. The Bible teaches us we are ‘entangled with Christ,’ so there is the entanglement. Every human being has already ‘died’ because when One died, all died,’ the Bible tells us.

Modern physicists are now teaching that everything is happening at the same time. Actually, ‘time’ is the only thing stopping everything from happening all at once. In space-time, there is no distinction.

Everyone should search and find. Scientists are now suggesting that there may be multiverses because of the Theory of entanglement. ‘When one electron is in any given space, there is a complete duplicate that will even move and act the same way. The two particles can be on opposite sides of the universe, but they will behave the same way.’ It is entanglement.

I can also accept all of this because I know how amazing God is. It doesn’t challenge my faith, it makes it stronger!

God Is for Us!✨

It’s true. I’m sure if you think back or not even too far back. There were times where he’s the only one that’s been there for you. Friendships may fail. Loved ones will disappoint, but God will never leave you. That is not to say you get everything you want in life. Some people have this misconception about the Lord. They believe that a loving God would never allow any adversity or for them to have any hardship; what people fail to understand is that there is growth in the suffering. It usually lasts for a season, but it helps you develop. The universe doesn’t have to adhere to us. It was never meant to be that way from the beginning. There is a cosmic order, and while that doesn’t mean you don’t have a say in what happens in your life, you have to be patient. God is working for us whether we realize it or not. He knows what’s best. We have to trust. At the same time, we have to work together with him to make our dreams happen. Nothing worthwhile comes easy, and sometimes the road is curvy. But if you have faith, persist, and never give up, you will win. God knows the desires of your heart, and he wants you to have them. Paul’s words in his epistle to the Romans are among the most quoted in the Bible: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).💕

We are all ‘called!’

It’s easy to fall off our tracks. We lose sight of what’s essential and move away from our purpose. Whether you’re meant to have a career or be a full-time homemaker, you have a mission here. But it’s easy to feel hopeless. It’s easy to feel like, ‘What am I doing?’ I believe we are all called to do something. We don’t always adhere to it. What I mean is, we each have our unique heavenly purpose. There’s something we’ll do here that’ll make sense when we get to heaven. Some people are unsure of what their ‘purpose’ is, and this can cause feelings of sadness. Sometimes it is just existing and being a friend. Family member. Co-worker, or spouse. God doesn’t get upset with us when we fail, but he does want us to live to our full potential. Ask yourself, am I living out my true potential? Is there something more I could be doing to contribute or to help myself? Our intuition lets us know when something is wrong. When all is right, we may feel happy or peaceful. I feel the most peaceful when I write, so I know it’s what I’m supposed to be doing! What makes you feel the happiest? Whatever it is, it could be part of your purpose. Anything good, anything pure and true, is a gift from above. When it is meant from the Father, there will be no doubt or shadow of turning. It doesn’t mean the path will be easy. But in the end it will be worth it. Either way, God doesn’t love you because of what you do. He loves you because you are you, his child, the one he longs to be with! One day you will realize the importance of his profound existence!

I’m someone who wants to maintain a relationship with the Lord!

After the catastrophic accident I was in, I went in a state of denial. I thought my life would go back to the way it was before, ‘normal.’ I thought I would walk again, freely. I thought I would not have to deal with all the pain. My pain has decreased, but my physical challenge has not gone away. I have learned to accept my differences.

I have overcome some grave challenges. Learning how to walk again, when some doctors predicted I wouldn’t has been a huge miracle. I learned how to drive again by nineteen years old. By twenty, I was back to work. I received an Associate in Liberal Arts Degree from the local community college and then received my Bachelor of Arts in English from Oakland University.

Life began to bloom through a different lens. I prayed and prayed, eventually hoped, planned, and had good experiences, again! So, I would like to suggest that you never believe you’ve hit a dead end. Life has a myriad of opportunities that await us. It’s full of new beginnings!

Through this, I have experienced God’s love on a deeper level and gained a more intimate relationship. I have always called out to him, not only in my darkest hours. I like to praise him. Giving thanks is like a weapon. When you thank God for all you’ve got, it not only heals you but gives you more strength. Praise is not something I have to work at. God has brought me through so much. I am grateful.

He is a fortress. It should not have to take a tragedy for you to know that. God is there all the time. He will be the only one we can depend on when everyone else has left. I lost a lot; not only did I have to learn how to adjust, heal, and walk, I also had to learn how to make new friends. God led me through it. Friendships happened again.

* * *

When I finally got out of the hospital and settled at home, I pondered how I would go back to school. I was active before this and took friends out. The favor was not reciprocated. I knew that life would not be easy back then. I wondered what it would be like since I could no longer just stand up and walk. Everything took effort. I had to learn how to do wheelchair transfers, eventually, get up steps, and even exercise muscles that would not move. I had to become a problem solver.

But I give all the glory to God. I have learned that even when we are in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, like I was, it doesn’t have to be the end. Everything is in God’s hands. Sometimes we suffer and there is no way to avoid it. But as it says in the Bible, the greater the sorrow, the more joy you will experience. “Truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy” (John 16:20).

Prayer is a pathway to peace!

I am not one who believes you have to pray for hours or that you have to use an extensive vocabulary with God to get what you want. I believe he already knows the prayers in our hearts before we utter them, as the Bible tells us. Therefore, ‘praying hard’ may not be necessary, in my opinion. I’m sure it can be beneficial and give you some clarity. And he hears you! But my point is, praying hard or desperately may not get you the results you want. I can see how prayer chains can be helpful. But since God already knows the desires of our hearts before we even tell him, to me, prayer can be simple. It’s a pathway to peace. Talking to God is a form of prayer, and he loves to hear from us. When you pray, you open the gateway. And then there is an unfolding of events that take place. You get your answers sooner or later. God may not always give you your requests. But keep in mind, he knows what’s best. So one way or the other, you will be compensated. If you keep the faith, you will be blessed!

On Teaching

Bible Study (session #1)

Below are some of the scriptures we covered today about ‘the end of the world.’

Luke 21:11 ESV

“There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.”

Matthew 24:32-36 ESV

“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. ‘But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.’”

Matthew 24:42-44 ESV

“Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Revelation 21:1-27 ESV

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’ And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ Also he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’” …

What does science say: when entropy reaches a low enough state, everything will start to disintegrate: every building, every structure, even protons will be destroyed. But that won’t happen for a long time from now. It would be comparable to the floors of the Empire State Building. Let’s imagine it won’t happen until we get to the top! However, in an eternal universe such as the one we are in, anything can happen. The world can ‘end’ at any given time. Again, keep in mind we are in an eternal universe though. So even after the scientific or pre-scientific destruction, particles will begin to ‘reform’ through a physics theory known as the Boltzmann Brain. A fun yet accurate way to look at the Boltzmann Brain theory! Basically, we are ‘particles’ caught up in human form. The Boltzmann brain will be a single brain that can appear in the ‘void complete with memories of a full human life in our universe, that arises due to extremely rare random fluctuations out of a state of thermodynamic equilibrium.’

I have to point out that the last Bible verse in Revelation that I copied is just beautiful. You see when we say the ‘Lord’s prayer.’ We pray for heaven to come down to earth whether we know it or not. We are making this request when we say ‘as it is in heaven’. These verses in Revelations point right to it. “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,” and then there is a new dwelling place where we dwell with God for all eternity.🙏

We are ‘continually’ healed!

What we fail to understand is healing is not a one-time thing or event. And our definition of healing is not always the same as God’s. Sometimes we pray to be ‘whole’ and expect it. But if we were meant to be whole, we may not feel like we need God. It’s why the Bible says, ‘I am the Lord who continuously heals you!’ He knew we’d need to be heated ‘continually.’ He knew we’d have to be healed a lot more than once! He knew we’d fail. He knew we’d fall short. He knew we’d come back to him again. It’s in the coming back, in the need that our healing lies. When we need him, when we can’t live without him, when we know we need to be ‘healed’ by him–we are whole. Let’s face it. Most chronic conditions are never healed fully. They are managed. Whether you’re praying for healing from cancer or addiction. The sickness never entirely disappears. You still have to have follow-ups with doctors. You still need to talk with lots of loved ones or attend support groups. Maybe we’re not meant to be completely healed? I’m not sure. But I know we are meant to have a dependency on God. It is only then that we can be whole in our spirit and mind.

In due time, it will happen to you!

It’s true. But often we take it for granted. We don’t trust in God enough. We often think that our ‘time’ should be his ‘time.’ However, what is time anyway? In physics, the past, present, and future are equally as real, and in space-time, they are happening at once.

We need to relax. God will make it happen if and when it is meant. As his children, we get anxious. We want to be in control—the captain of our ships. However, we must keep in mind that there is a cosmic and divine order. Things don’t always happen how we want them to or when we would like.

Sometimes they happen when we least expect. If you keep the faith, believe, and never give up, they will happen to you. I wrote a post that describes how prayers do get answered but not always in the way we think they should. One way or the other, God will answer you. No prayer is unheard. Whether you are praying for deliverance, a new home, or enough resources, God hears you.

There’s a reason it hasn’t happened yet. Whether or not you understand is not what makes the difference. What makes the difference is whether or not you trust and ask for his wise counsel. In due time, miracles happen. The way one great physicist put it is free will does not exist. EVERYTHING is in the cosmic order. Another great physicist/pastor I listen to put it this way–God is the greatest chess player.

He knows every route you can go, and he has a plan even for when you mess up. Isn’t it great to know you have a God who will always be there? Who will pick you up? Who will cover you no matter what? This unconditionally loving God who always takes care wants what’s best for us.

It’s in your hands, too!

I agree with this statement, but not wholeheartedly. I mean, yes, everything is in God’s hands, and we shouldn’t stress, lose sleep, or not eat; however, to accomplish our goals, there are steps we must take. We can do nothing and be stagnant, but that may not be the best choice.

If you hear from the Lord to trust in him, that is a beautiful thing. There is no one better to trust. However, if you feel him instructing you to take action and do more–make sure you do it. Because no one else is going to do it for you, you must take action. Sometimes we don’t realize that. We sit and let problems resonate without doing anything.

Sometimes we think that this is the way God wants things for us. Little steps can make a big difference, though, and sometimes there are small steps we can take to make it better. Sometimes God will instruct us further. We have to ask him to lead and guide and be in constant contact with him.

Again, I’m not saying we shouldn’t pray and leave it in his hands. Of course we should. At the same time, we should listen for instruction, and if our intuition tells us there are certain things we should do, we shouldn’t ignore it and assume that God wants our life to be a certain way.

Chapter 10 from my book, “Not Without God: Hope In the Storm.”

Some Tips on How I Overcome

We sometimes go through hardship; I’d like to offer you some advice in this chapter if you areI can now use an elliptical at the gym, and I don’t even recall envisioning this. I mean, I never dreamt I would be able to run on an elliptical. I imagined I was walking on a walker at sixteen after my accident and suffering paralysis, but using an elliptical and going three to four miles on it is a huge success.

My point is, God will take you even further than what you’ve dreamt. He has the capability. It’s is a far stretch from where I was while in the hospital! I imagined myself walking even when I couldn’t sit up for more than a minute. And now, all these years later, running on an elliptical? God has given me abundance. I would picture myself getting better. Although I am not functional with one cane, I still believe I can get there. With God, nothing is impossible.

Having faith has so much to do with what we envision. We don’t always realize that; sometimes, we think that having faith comes only through what we hear or learn. But faith comes through what we envision; imagination is a powerful tool, and what we dream becomes manifest.

But not listening to doctors and science is detrimental. You see, what you hear is essential. What you hear has a way of affecting you either negatively or positively. Faith does cometh by heareth. We must have faith in science; I’ve talked about science in this book.

I’ve been able to accomplish walking because I envisioned it twenty-five years ago (I had faith). I expected it. Our imagination is from God. I’ve heard from a famous pastor that imagining him is the closest we will ever get to seeing him while we’re here, and seeing God can be real if we stop rejecting our imagination.

We reject it every day because society teaches us that if we use it, we are silly. Sometimes images just come to me while praying. I see specs of light often, even rays of light I have seen many times. Things sometimes move on their own. I always saw this as God’s way of telling me his angels are near and protecting me. I have heard God’s voice from deep within instructing me and even scream and tell me what to do in life-saving moments.

I have studied physics for a year and a half now, and all of the theories I’ve learned further prove God and his excellent existence! The fact is that the greatest physicists now say we are moving here through our imagination. We are made up of billions and billions of atoms that can never die. All of this is true.

The Theory of entanglement holds across the universe. These are Biblical principles taught to us through physics, but you would never know it without studying the universe. The Bible teaches us we are ‘entangled with Christ,’ so there is this entanglement. Every human being has already ‘died’ because when One died, all died,’ the Bible tells us.

‘That we no longer live for ourselves but live for the one who died and rose again for us.’ Modern physicists are now teaching that everything is happening at the same time. Actually, ‘time’ is the only thing stopping everything from happening all at once; however, the past, present, and future are equally real. In space-time, there is no distinction.

Everyone should search and find. Scientists are now suggesting that there may be multiverses because of the Theory of entanglement. ‘When one electron is in any given space, there is a complete duplicate that will even move and act the same way in a different place. The two particles can be on opposite sides of the universe, but they will behave the same way.

I can also accept all of it because I know how amazing God is. It doesn’t challenge my faith. It strengthens it! The Theory of relativity teaches us the importance of light. There is light in everything. God created it. The first thing he created was light. Light makes up the entire universe. Our bodies are composed of billions of atoms, again, that absorb and emit light.

According to Einstein’s Theory, light’s speed is the only thing in the universe that is constant. I listen to some great physicists such as Dr. Briane Greene, Leonard Susskind, and Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson. People who only listen to what their church teaches, who are afraid to ‘leave the pew,’ so to speak, and study science are missing out.

God has put all the puzzle pieces together for us. Because God is perfect, and so is his design. God cannot be anything but perfect, so all the answers have been revealed, and science is discovering more. Physicists are just adding to what they already know, and with every mind-blowing discovery, God’s magnificence is revealed!

***

I never stop giving thanks. When you have a grateful heart and thank God for everything, you receive blessings because a thankful heart will provide you with a graceful attitude. I know it can be challenging to feel that way all the time. But try to think of all that God has done for you! I’m sure you are unique, as we all are. By reflecting on the abundance, you will have a better disposition. Sometimes you look around and can’t see past all the blessings, which is a cheerful heart!

Never give up. You have to work at accomplishing goals continuously. If you give up, you will never know what could’ve been if you would’ve only kept ongoing. There will be people who tell you differently or that you cannot do something. If you believe them, you won’t! You have to work hard and realize that it can take years for your dreams to occur. You will never regret all the work you have put in.

I know I haven’t. It will be worth it! The worst that can happen, you can try but fail, and you will more than likely not fail. I have had to accept that I may never walk the way I did before the accident, meaning hands-free, but I have accepted it. It doesn’t mean I don’t strive to get better. I have learned NEVER to say NEVER.

Have you ever thought about being a writer, for example? Did you know that 80 percent of Americans believe they should write a book? Most of them will never do it. People get intimidated by the work. They don’t know how to find a publisher or even self-publish. They never try or give up.

These days, writers can self-publish with tools online, and there are ways to get your book printed on-demand, or you can go the route of Indie publishing like I have.

I traveled a lot on business trips, I’ve been to New York twice, and even met celebrities like Ice-T, his wife, Coco, Martha Stewart, Jerry, from Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, and more!

But whether you publish independently, with a hybrid company, or with a traditional publisher–you are still responsible for marketing. Be aware. Authors are not only writers, but they are also marketers, “experts,” salespeople, speakers, and we wear many hats!

I would not suggest for anyone to publish prematurely. Millions of people write books each year, but the majority of them are not any good. You don’t have to be born with the talent, but you do have to practice!

You can’t just wave a magic wand and become an excellent writer. I have been working on my craft for years. Outstanding writers often ghostwrite. I hope to one day do that also. That is where you write books for others. Again, to do something like that, you have to be a fabulous writer.

You can start by writing for fifteen minutes a day. You can then re-read what you wrote to reflect and recognize errors in your writing like punctuation, spelling, and grammar. You can add more or rewrite to help change any negative attitudes if you practice journaling.

You can’t heal from what you don’t acknowledge, and writing can be therapeutic. I’ve practiced this technique since I was a teenager. Write somewhere where you can focus and edit. If you can’t find the time to write every day, write for a total of one to two hours per week if you can.

Three hours or more of writing per week would be an ideal schedule, though, if you’d like to be a writer.

Find a Writer’s Community. What would you want to write? Who will be in your audience? Create a blog. You can start a free blog at WordPress.com. I use that platform. I recommend you search for video tutorials on how to use it, again, not something you will quickly pick up by ‘waving your magic wand.’

You can start a blog at WordPress.org, but you would have to purchase hosting. I’ve bought a domain at Godaddy.com (I am not an affiliate of any of these companies). But my domain is just at zinahermez.com and points to my blog (My blog acts as my complete website.). It is also listed under notwithoutgod.net

Connect with other writers: join a writers’ group, attend a writers’ conference (I have been to several out-of-state and had a great time!). Share your writing with your friends or family and ask for honest feedback, but ask them not to be too harsh. Compliments with constructive criticism are healthy.

Find an accountability partner (That was a new piece of advice I heard at a conference!). I liked it—someone to keep you responsible. I don’t need that at this point.

I have been writing for nearly ten years, actively meaning for the publishing world. I write for several hours per day. Reading others’ writing can help, and it is a great way to write better. The best writers are the best readers, and writing can help you be a better speaker–I have told many people. Read a lot of material, research, books, online magazines, and fact-checked and reliable resources!

Relax, and enjoy it (if you have no interest in writing, disregard)! I’ve taken the fun out of writing by focusing on trying to make it “perfect.” Trying to type the right words word-for-word can be stressful. I used to do that a lot in the beginning. These high expectations can take the enjoyment out of it! Writing has to be fulfilling.

I was listening to a live webinar in my Writers Guild (a membership group I used to be in), and I heard a man say he feels “parched” while he writes. He was asking our writing coach how to solve this problem. He shouldn’t feel parched; he should feel inspired. You cannot inspire someone else until you inspire yourself first. But this develops over time.

Finding your “voice” can take a while, but writing can become easier and more comfortable once you find it. You won’t regret all the work you’ve put in!

***

You also cannot be weak. Keep your body moving! And get up and exercise so you can stay healthy. That is what I do daily. They say that for athletes, 10,000 steps per day is ideal. Since I am someone with a spinal cord injury, I know that is not required of me, so I try my best to fulfill a few thousand steps (or mile) per day.

There is a body and mind connection. You will ‘see’ the impossible happen while you’re exercising! Train your body. There are so many possibilities. But it is hard to see them when you’re sitting on the couch. Start now, lift weights, and start with bicep curls.

Don’t be stagnant.

My daily regimen consists of exercising and writing, for the most part. Writing can take some energy, too. As I mentioned before, I listen to the Bible through audio (I try to listen every night, but I tend to listen sporadically throughout the week or during different times of the day). I listen to the Psalms (usually the dramatized version through a Bible app).

My favorite Psalms now are 69, 71, 74, and 77. One of my favorite books is The Book of Acts. It’s powerful.

Below are some remedies for overcoming—the ones I mentioned at the beginning of this chapter. When I speak publicly, I often talk about these topics.

•Talk to God throughout the day. Make Him your closest friend. He is the most outstanding listener. He will never interrupt. I know I can always count on Him. He will never stop listening to you. God is omnipresent. He can be everywhere all at once. He will answer, but not necessarily on your timing, and things may not go your way–but he’ll answer you one way or the other. The answers often come to me immediately in my heart.

But I have been practicing having a relationship with God for a long time, so our connection is substantial. Like I mentioned above, having a relationship with God is like exercising a muscle. The more you practice exercising it, the stronger it gets! If you are quiet, you will hear from him better.

The answers will come (typically through feelings in your heart or visions). You have to discern God’s voice, but it can be hard to hear his voice if you do not know him well and talk with him much at all, so start practicing. If you are having trouble understanding God and his ways, I recommend reading the Bible. Begin at the New Testament Gospels.

Try not to make hasty decisions. When the answer to your prayer comes from God–you will be sure of it. There will be no shadow of turning, as it says in the Bible. When something comes down from the Father of Lights, you will know it!

Please think about how you can implement some of the activities I mentioned. Can you go for a walk (before the kids wake up if you are a mother)? And can you share your thoughts with God (pray for yourself and others)? What would you ask him for? Can you be cordial with ‘everyone?’ Can you make time for extracurricular activities? What are your hobbies? Are you a member of any groups?

Can you go to the gym before your eight-hour workday (if you have one)? How about setting up a regular weekly sports game like tennis or walking with friends to make exercise social (so long as your governor is allowing it)? How can you be creative? Reflect. Write your thoughts down. It will help you realize what you have been lacking and how you can make your life better! It will also help you to improve!

Spiritual

God, what are you doing?

Often we feel this way, like, “God, what are you doing?” I don’t understand,
we think. How can you let this happen? Or that happen? We talk to him as if the universe has to confirm to us. But part of adulthood is realizing that the universe never had to conform to us. Nor does the universe owe us any explanations. There are times when things go our way, and how wonderful it is when that happens! There are times it doesn’t. In those times, we have to grow and know there is a larger purpose we cannot see or understand. I mean, there is gain in loss. Loss humbles us and teaches us stuff. You can never lose without gaining something. It’s like the positivity of a proton that is driven by the negative charge. The positive charge on a proton is equal in magnitude to the negative charge on an electron. Sadly, we don’t always get what we want, and sometimes we suffer. But suffering is a part of life, and there is no way to avoid it. In these times, we must trust in the Lord, keeping in mind what he suffered for us and not letting go of the fact that he rose again. This rising demonstrates a rebirth of the most excellent kind and reminds us that the universe is eternal. Death has not won. Nor have our problems. They are only temporary.🙏☦️🌝🌌

God will make a way when there is no way!🌝

Often we think there’s no way out of our problem(s) or that they can never get better. I hate to tell you this. Sometimes it’s true. Some things can’t turn around or go back. It goes against the Laws of Physics. There are those times, though, when things change. It may even surprise us. There is a turnaround, something different, something unexpected. Learn to believe in the impossible happening. I have learned NEVER to say NEVER. The great physicists tell us that ‘in an eternal universe, anything can happen.’ As a matter of fact, NOT ONLY can they happen, but they do! I believe part of our purpose here, though, is to accept our situation without expectations. Meaning, we have to learn to carry our crosses and hope for the best. We don’t get everything we want. God is in control. We can make choices, but ultimately, it’s not always our decision that determines the result. These are times when we must trust in The Lord and know that hardship makes us humble. It makes us human and who we are. At the same time, we can learn, that he will make a way no matter what. Even if it’s not ‘the way’ we expected. There will always be a way out—with God.

While I Wait 🎶🎼🎵

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You Lord and I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You Lord, though it is painful
But patiently I will wait
And I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You Lord and I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You Lord, though it’s not easy, no
But faithfully I will wait
Yes, I will wait

And I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
I’ll be taking every step in obedience…

The above are lyrics are to a song I love that’s been running through my head all night, so I thought I’d share it with you, it’s beautiful! Enjoy!

Science & Physics

God proves science!🌟🎆🌠

I have studied physics for a year and a half now, and all of the theories I’ve learned further prove God and his excellent existence! The fact is that the greatest physicists now say we are moving here through our imagination. We are made up of billions and billions of atoms that can never die.

The Theory of entanglement holds across the universe. These are Biblical principles taught to us through physics, but you would never know it without studying the universe. The Bible teaches us we are ‘entangled with Christ.’ Every human being has already ‘died’ because when One died, all died’ the Bible tells us.

Actually, ‘time’ is the only thing stopping everything from happening all at once; however, the past, present, and future are equally real. In space time, there is no distincition.

Scientists are now suggesting that there may be multiverses because of the Theory of entanglement. ‘When one electron is in any given space, there is a complete duplicate that will even move and act the same way in a different place.’ The two particles can be on opposite sides of the universe, but they will behave the same way. It is entanglement.

Technically, we are ‘particles,’ so this means we also have ‘duplicates.’ Physicists are now talking about assimilation. Like, are there multiple universes where there are copies and copies of ourselves? Where else are we? We can be here and there. I believe we can occupy heaven and earth at the same time, in my opinion, so this Theory of entanglement makes total sense.

God cannot be anything but perfect, so all the answers have been revealed and science is discovering more. Physicists are just adding to what they already know, and with every mind-blowing discovery, God’s magnificence is revealed!

A Cheerful Heart Is Like Medicine!

We sometimes go through hardship; I’d like to offer you some advice if you areStay the course. My point is, God will take you even further than what you’ve dreamt. He has the capability. With God, nothing is impossible.

Having faith has so much to do with what we envision. We don’t always realize that; sometimes, we think that having faith comes only through what we hear or learn. But faith comes through what we envision; imagination is a powerful tool.

But not listening to doctors and science is detrimental. You see, what you hear is essential, too. What you hear has a way of affecting you either negatively or positively. The people who haven’t listened to the precautions out there now have been more likely to get sick.

So, faith does come by what we hear, too. We must have faith in science. I’ve been able to accomplish walking again, though, because I envisioned it twenty-five years ago after I suffered paralysis (I had faith in it). I have also worked very hard.

We may be feeling low and not know how to rise above depression. We may not have faith in ourselves or be too effected by outside circumstances. God’s angels are near, and I have heard God’s voice from deep within instruct me and even speak ‘loudly’ and tell me what to do.

I never stop giving thanks. When you have a grateful heart and thank God for everything, you receive blessings because a thankful heart will provide you with grace. I know it can be challenging to feel that way all the time. But try to think of all that God has done for you!

On Teaching

Stop stressin’!

I like to think about things a lot. Often we try to take everything into our own hands and stress when something doesn’t go the way we want. But I believe in destiny. I believe in what’s meant to be. God is in control. Not to say we don’t have a say, but if we trust in him and try to follow his wise instruction—it will turn out alright. Sometimes it isn’t easy to know what he is saying. I recommend spending time in prayer or getting in the silence. Even fifteen minutes a day will make a huge difference. Having faith has so much to do with what we envision. We don’t always realize that. Sometimes we think that having faith only comes through what we hear or learn. But hearing from the Lord also comes from what we see, imagine. It also comes through our intuition; sometimes, we KNOW when he is speaking to us. Those times are excellent. Anything blessed, anything peaceful, anything pure and lovely is a message from above.🌝🌅🌠

Writing, Speaking, and Media

Chapter 9 of my book, “Hope In the Storm!”☔⛈️🌈

My Story Comes Full Circle

I sought after God at a young age. It wasn’t until I had my accident that I truly experienced his peace. I saw Christ in everyone. I experienced God in the almost three and a half months I spent in the hospital. I had all these injuries and had become paralyzed, but I understood God on a different level. I was searching for something I could not find.

I had friends, lived in a good neighborhood, and went to the right school, but I would ask God what life meant. I knew God was real, but I was confused. I felt His presence daily, but I wanted to understand him better. I knew he was there. I felt his company and even his love and security while on my evening bike rides.

Perhaps I deliberately went out to spend time alone with him. I have always needed him since I was a young child. My time alone with God gives me peace, and it is crucial for me. I need to talk with him and pray. I am not independent of God and never will be.

God never leaves us, no matter what. He will be the one listening when we need to cry on his shoulder and when something goes wrong! He will be with us forever and celebrate us also. His love is eternal. He’s always there. Hopefully, we will change for the better and learn to depend on him or first and foremost.

God is in control, anyway, and he shines his light on us. God’s love for us cannot change. God’s love does not discriminate. I urge you to look at what I went through and how he brought me through it. Choose God even in the hard times, and no matter what you’ve suffered. He has a plan for you.

Talking with God is one of my favorite things, even when I don’t understand what is going on in my life. But the older I get, the more I feel a direct connection. I’m able to discern his voice better. When I talk to God, ask, pray, make requests, and spend time with him, I feel safer.

I love to be in his presence. I mean, it’s like exercising a muscle. The more you strengthen your relationship with him, the easier it is to hear and understand. The stronger it gets. It is the same way with God. When you practice having that relationship, you will feel closer and more secure.

The bible says, ‘I am the Lord who continuously heals you.’ That means healing is not a one-time thing or event. I have already talked to him about this. God continuously heals us. God continues to heal me in various ways. He renews me every morning and gives me strength every day.

God loves me so much he’s given me the right doctors. You see, God created medicine. He speaks to us and helps us through our doctors and medical staff. I mean, it’s fair to get a second opinion when you don’t agree with one, but if you keep getting more views, you may be the overly skeptical one.

I hope for everyone to have this knowledge. He is our hero. He truly is our friend. You never know how your life will turn out. I never expected to grow up with a physical challenge. I am blessed to have this knowledge of the Lord. Nothing can compare to the simple truth. You will have Christ no matter what.

The more profound the sorrow, the greater the joy! I am not asking you to rejoice in suffering; I am asking you to rejoice in the one who stands before you. He will not leave you unless you ask him to, and even then, he will be standing in your corner, guarding, leading, and guiding you with all his angels.

I don’t have any secrets on how to overcome. I am not different from anyone. Jesus heals me every time. He is the ultimate example. When love is not true, it fades. God’s love never fades. He’s always there. It is you who leaves and turns away.

He cannot. Because God is love, and that is what he does. He comes in when everyone else has gone out. He comes in when your life is too much to bear, picks you up, and saves you. Love cannot fail and endures all things. It gives freely of itself. It will provide even when you are not winning. When God comes in to rescue you, it will be the greatest gift ever.

Trust God

Would your father scold you if you did something wrong, like take something that does not belong to you? Of course, he would because he would not want you to go to jail! God is not a punishing one; we suffer because of our own decisions and, at times, create our own bad experiences.

Lean on God, though. Your happiness will not be short-lived or temporal and fade. I’ve tried to control situations in my life because I think I know what is best. I have an image in my mind of how my life should’ve been. But God wants me to put my faith in Him.

I had the most fantastic experience one time. I woke up with the warmest feelings I’ve ever felt. It’s as if angels were hugging me, and it was during a hospital procedure. I was under anesthetics. I have had other divine experiences, but I will refrain from documenting them right now. I will say this, though; I woke up with this profound sense of love and reassurance. I realized, indeed, there is no need to worry.

Even when you are frustrated, try to embrace an attitude of acceptance. That way, your expectations will not be high, and you will not be disappointed. We are each fighting our own battle of some kind. Wait on God – your blessings will flow bountifully. Learn to trust in him by prayer. You will see that He will be there.

Glorify God through your Job

But you have to be patient with God, just like you have to be patient with your job. I already wrote about how you can compare patience to work in a previous chapter. You don’t complain at work. Then don’t complain to God. Imagine if you treated God the way you treat your supervisor or director. You won’t get promoted at work if all you do is complain.

God wants to promote you. I mean, I take that back; you can complain to God, of course. But always be respectful towards him. God is way higher than your CEO. He is the creator of all things.

Good thing he doesn’t keep a record of our complaints! I would’ve been fired, or have never moved up the ladder, so to speak, if I ever whined, cried out loud, or screamed at my director in my past job. Count your blessings! God has been good to you.

You see, God has given me a blueprint, a plan on how to get to where I need to. But that is because I am in constant contact with him. We have a direct connection. When I’ve been discharged from physical therapy too early, God has instructed me on how to exercise – some doors have shut. But there are always new beginnings. God loves us and does not give up on us. No one can motivate you like you can. You have to help yourself.

You are giving glory to God when you are doing your job. When you complain, bicker with others, and act as if you are not blessed–you are taking your blessings for granted. If I were overly sensitive or the kind of person who took my work home with me, so to speak, I would not be successful.

I never saw any bullying behavior or mistreatment as being my problem. I knew it was the problem of the person who tried to do it. As a teacher, I want to empower. I’ve been fortunate to have had lots of lovely students. But I have run into conflict with others.

Some people are threatened by how bold I am or don’t understand the extent of my independence. It used to bother me a little. But I could care less if others approve of me or not. I am not working for them; I am working for the Lord.

I have learned a lot just by working with so many different people. I have become more patient. I have learned that there are all kinds of souls, and if I succumb to a soul that wants to ruin my career, then that soul has won. I won’t have it, so instead, I prove them wrong. I stay the course and get promoted.

You can prove others wrong by your actions. Teaching takes faith and patience because you are constantly dealing with others. You have to be a manager and make quick decisions. I play fair. I have my rules and policies, but if a good student who shows effort and care slipped up, I would help them out.

My job has taught me so much, and it’s mostly been through the challenging parts. We need to look at obstacles as promoters. A challenge is an opportunity. If we view challenges that way, we have taken control. They won’t have power over us.

Being a teacher is a gift—an immeasurable one. And I’ve tried not to wear the ‘teacher hat’ during all my years of teaching. I often left questions that were open for discussion. I didn’t just lecture or continually talk and be the ‘know it all.’ I have never worked as a lecturer, anyway. But of course, I’ve offered a lot of knowledge, always stuck to the topic, benchmarks, and protocol, and did my best to educate.

I give students articulate and challenging assignments and always push them for more. I am traditional in that way. It’s a lot of responsibilities to juggle. I liked to be a resource and give them information. I like to listen and answer questions. I have taught for over 20 years and some of the most wonderful experiences I’ve ever experienced were while teaching.

Think about how you can serve God by doing your job. Are you employed? What do you do for a living? Do you enjoy it? If you are not, would you like to be? What would be your “dream” career? Think about how you can keep God in the workplace (or at home if you’re a homemaker).

Do you think you are serving the Lord? You sure are by doing your job. You can make your manager happy, but you are serving God when you do your job. It is not about your director (even if you are upset with him or her). By doing your job—you are leading by example. Do it well, and you will get noticed. If you are not working, how can you serve your community or family better?

God’s Love Is Unconditional💕

I feel a direct connection to the Lord. I’m able to discern his voice. When I talk to him, ask, pray, make requests, and spend time, I feel better. I love to be in his presence. Having a relationship with him is like exercising a muscle, the more you strengthen it, the stronger it gets.

When you practice having that relationship, you will feel closer. The bible says, ‘I am the Lord who continuously heals you.’ That means healing is not a one-time thing or event. The Lord ‘continuously’ heals us.

God continues to heal me in various ways. He renews me every morning and gives me strength. God’s given me the right doctors and medicine. God created medicine along with science.🎆

He speaks to us and helps us through these medical professionals. I mean, it’s fair to get a second opinion when you don’t agree with your doctor, but if you keep getting more opinions, you may be skeptical.

He is our hero. He truly is our friend. You never know how your life will turn out. I never expected to grow up with a physical challenge, but I am blessed to have the Lord, and I know he will never leave no matter what.

The more profound the sorrow, the greater the joy! I am not asking you to rejoice in suffering; I am asking you to rejoice in the one who stands before you. He will not leave unless you ask him to, and even then, he will be standing in your corner, guarding, leading, and guiding you.

I don’t have any secrets on how to overcome. I am not different from anyone. Jesus heals me every time. When love is not true, it fades. God’s love never fades. He’s always there. It is us who leave and turn away.

He cannot. Because God is love, and that is what he does. He comes in when everyone else has gone out. He comes in when your life is too much to bear. Love cannot fail and endures all things. It gives freely of itself. It will provide even when you are not winning.

When God comes in to rescue you, it will be the greatest gift ever.

Lean on God. Your happiness will not be short-lived or temporal. I’ve tried to control situations in my life because I think I know what is best. I have an image in my mind of how my life should be. But God wants me to put my faith in Him.

Imagine if you treated God the way you treat your director. You won’t get promoted at work if all you do is complain, right? God wants you to get promoted. I mean, I take that back; you can complain to God, of course. But people who complain a lot don’t typically get anywhere.

Be grateful!

Free Will and Destiny🔮✨

Since we have free will, some may think they can choose their destiny. But I believe fate and free will have to work in harmony. Determinism is a theory that says God determines everything and it’s pre-written. According to physics, though, we are ‘particles’ with endless possibilities. Although the Laws of the Universe wholly govern us, in an eternal universe, anything is possible.

What’s meant to be is a part of our destiny. Some people don’t believe in fate because we have choices. Our choices can determine our future, but our choices do not always determine the result. Meaning we don’t always get what we choose. God is in control, ultimately. He wants to see our dreams happen.

But he is our designer and the maker of everything! Life is complicated. There are twists and turns, and the path is not straight. We can decide, but things may not go the way we had planned or our way.

My advice to my friends when caught in predicaments is to pray. Stay in Faith. When you pray through anything, you’ll have knowledge, wisdom, and strength. When I say pray, I don’t necessarily mean bringing your desperate pleas to the Lord. He already knows what’s in our hearts. The Holy Spirit searches our hearts and conveys our messages to God.

Prayer means spending time with him, conversing, meditating on his word, and sharing your thoughts. Of course, you can make requests. But trust in God. He will give you your answers. You don’t have to spend hours praying, either. Prayer can be straightforward and just sharing requests and thoughts.

God will help you through anything if you put him first. He has to be the one you go to, the one you depend upon most. Ask him to help you discern and lead you to the right decisions.

The people in the Bible didn’t question whether or not they heard from the Lord. They knew when he was speaking. It wasn’t a question of whether or not they can hear from him. They followed his wise instruction. Sometimes angels even appeared and performed miracles, like when Paul, the Apostle, was freed from prison in the Book of Acts. It was an angel who appeared and opened the gates.

Because Paul had great faith, without faith, that miracle could’ve never happened. He will lead you to the right people, situations, and assistance if you ask. God has told me to wait on change and that the hardship I’m enduring has not gone in vain. He will tell you what to do if you listen and be patient.

Talk with him. It is how you can best hear. I mean by sharing your thoughts. You don’t have to talk out loud. You can speak to him in your heart. Give him your concerns, ask questions, and don’t forget to thank him. He’s always there. Your questions will get answered. Sooner or later.

God Is One of Restoration and Hope☀️

What is it you want out of life? For example, do you have the gift of giving? Psychologists say it is those who give that receive the most. If you say you want a Mercedes Benz or a bigger house than the one you’re in, ask yourself if what you want is practical. I mean, is it necessary? What you value means so much. How about more basic wants like health or a happy home? If you already have those things, be thankful.

Think about what you want. As it says in the Bible, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will also be.” I want enough love to fill my life, and I have learned that I mainly need the Lord, first and foremost. I profess what I believe in, but I don’t speak to everyone’s heart. But what matters to me more than anything is the love I have from the Lord and my desire to do what I can while I’m here.

It is also those that provide the most who others take for granted, though. Since I have experienced this, I couldn’t help but touch on it. How often, due to our selfless effort, is our effort taken for granted? I am sure if you take a look at your past, you will see he’s always been there for you.

So I have a feeling that all that hurt me when I was young won’t hurt me at all one day anymore.

God has this way of taking our brokenness and turning it into something beautiful, something we’ve never seen before. Maybe you prayed for something but haven’t got your answer; perhaps it’s been years. God has been working on it all along.

God was working for you before you prayed about it.

He knows what we need when we need it, and he wants us to have it. Again, I feel the Lord telling me to keep on believing and working hard. He will lead me to situations of acceptance where people are warm and friendly.

I used to blame that I got abandoned on the accident I had at sixteen years old. Sure, some would not want to hang around with someone different out of fear of not being accepted or out of not doing things they want—like going hiking, for example. Abandoned more for who I am, though; I’m glad certain people have left. As I got older, I have learned that my faith has often set me apart. I would not want anyone to be in a friendship with me out of obligation or pressure.

Religion and Science⚛️

Many religious people push back on science and physics ideas in fear of accepting something that may go against the Bible. Most Christians are afraid to admit the idea of a Big Bang, or they never even study it, for example. But due to microwave background radiation, we know it existed, among many other reasons.

Not all physicists are atheists or non-religious; as a matter of fact, many are open to the idea of there being a God or even Jesus. Many Christians are not open to all the theories of physics, though. We have to understand that religion isn’t supposed to give us all the information about the universe. It cannot replace scientific research.

The Big Bang theory says that 13.8 billion years ago, this tiny little microscopic point in space generated so much energy, and it went bang! God created light! Then, 13.8 billion years later, humans are created. We are the last thing made in the Book of Genesis also. The sun was formed about 9.2 billion years after the Big Bang!

If you divide 9.2 into 13.8, you have precisely 2/3. So the fraction is 2/3 from light, our sun was created (and as you know, 2/3 is equal to 4/6). So 2/3 and 4/6 are the same fractions. Moses wrote in the Book of Genesis and said, ‘Light was created the first day.’ He says the last thing created were human beings.

Of course, Moses uses the term ‘6 days,’ and the Big Bang uses billions of years. But both agree on the beginning and the end. Moses also says the sun was created on the 4th day of a six-day creation cycle. So there you have it, 4/6. Again, the sun was created and matches perfectly mathematically with the Big Bang Theory.

The language of physics is math. If you want to learn more: please check out this video by John Pennington: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od9NZC1tJ3I

In many places in the Bible, we are told that God is light. ‘God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.’ Did you know that the speed of light moves at a rate so fast with such an enormous mass that everything around it starts to slow? Light is eternal. Not only did God create it, but he is light as well.

We are told that we are made in His likeness and image. The neat thing is, the Big Bang was not even the beginning. Space-time existed before the Big Bang ever happened is what the world’s greatest physicists tell us. Again, that’s because God is eternal. He has no beginning and end.

The Boltzmann Brain🧠☀️🌌

If you’ve never heard of the Big Bang, it was the ‘rapid swelling of space and time’ that started our universe 13.8 billion years ago; however, today, I found out that physicists assume that ‘space and time’ have always been there! If that is true, when did space-time begin? It’s like asking, when did God begin? We know he’s always existed, but was there ever a ‘beginning?’ I don’t believe so because we know that God is eternal. He will always be there!

So, it’s not really about how the universe ‘began’ when studying the Big Bang; it’s about how the universe EVOLVED. Something was already there–space-time (God!). The universe was already in existence before the Big Bang occurred, which the world’s greatest physicists tell us. So, WHAT caused the ‘swelling’ or push outward? Gravity.

Newton taught us that gravity could only pull inward, which left us scratching our heads. When Einstein came along, he taught us that gravity doesn’t only pull inward. It also pushes outward! Gravity is everything! It’s called repulsive gravity that caused the universe to ‘swell’ and form. Gravity holds all things together and even forms stars!

How did we come about? How do particles like quarks, electrons, and neutrinos come together and produce consciousness? God. Why are we the only ones aware of our mortality? There are sea creatures and various animals that walk the earth. But they are not as knowledgeable as we are.

And what about entropy? When the universe reaches a low enough state of entropy, everything will start to fall apart! What happens after everything disintegrates? Every structure, human, building, and ALL OF MATTER will eventually die. EVERYTHING dies!

We are taught that once there is nothing left other than some particles forming in the void, there can be a ‘reforming’ of particles. Particles can start to come together again and form a brain in the void. It’s called the Boltzmann brain. As a matter of fact, it is more likely for a single brain to appear in the void than for a new Big Bang to occur.

The definition of a Boltzmann’s brain is a fully formed brain, complete with memories of fully human life in our universe, that arises due to extremely rare random fluctuations out of a state of thermodynamic equilibrium in our universe! You see, consciousness is just particles and forces, and that’s all you need for the ‘lights to turn on.’

I believe this event will represent the return of Christ. And then, somewhere down the line, I’m not sure how long after–heaven will come down to earth! There is a reason the Lord instructs us to pray this way: Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.💕

The End of ‘Time’🌌

We are the only ones in the universe. God didn’t make other life, as far as we know. I mean, there are creatures and sea life, etc. But there is no evidence for alien life, and the Bible makes no mention of it. We have searched and found nothing so far.

It doesn’t surprise me that we are the only ones here: God’s children. We are also the only ones brought to consciousness and aware of our own mortality. The greatest physicists have told us that we are here by chance. At the beginning of what we know as ‘time,’ or ‘the Big Bang’ 13. 8 billion years ago, everything was ordered and designed.

God doesn’t make mistakes, though. We are not here by ‘chance.’ We are here deliberately for a purpose, and each one of us is unique with our own gifts, talents, and even failures and shortcomings.

I don’t know if my mind could ever understand all of physics. I majored in English and minored in History and often wish I would’ve studied science more. It is one of my favorite subjects nowadays. Although I love to write, of course.

I have learned a lot about light, Einstein’s theory of relativity, how light is eternal (Godly). Not only did God create light, but the Bible tells us he is light in many places which I referenced in my previous post.

But back to time. When did it begin? Did it begin with the Big Bang? If God is eternal (which I believe he is), when was the beginning? How far back does he go?

I have understood that if we routinely traveled near the speed of light, we would understand that time slows because we would experience it, and we would understand that space becomes blended into time.

Einstein called it, space time. Everything is happening in ‘space time.’ We are told the past, present, and future are equally as real and almost have no distinction in space time.

Unfortunately, everything will die one day. All matter will disintegrate. Every structure, proton, everything you see (and experience) will one day be no more. I have been studying Brian Greene’s book, ‘Until the End of Time.’ He’s a world-famous physicist.

This is how he explains it: he compares the floors of the Empire State Building to time. Everything from the Big Bang until today takes us to about floor 10, but exponentially far into the future of the building, everything will disintegrate. But there are key things that happen along the way.

With the final floor, at the peak of the Empire State building–the universe is just left with a bath of particles floating through the darkness. All structure will disintegrate. Entropy will win. There will be nothing but particles in the void.

In my next post, I plan to write about the Boltzmann Brain, or the new form of a “Big Bang,” so to speak. So stay tuned for that. It’s never over because God is eternal.

As Brian Green explains it, ‘There will be pockets of order that can reform.’ If you’re interested, I have attached the video that will explain all this more! https://youtu.be/xwYvmlr_wBIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwYvmlr_wBI

Time and Light!✨💫☀️

Did you know that time slows down and becomes very pronounced when approached by the speed of light? The speed of light is faster than anything in the world. Light can circle the earth 7.5 times in one second. At a rate that moves so fast, with such an enormous mass, everything around it starts to slow.

The Bible tells us that God is light in several places. “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). In another place in the Bible, Jesus says, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness but will have the Light of life.”

“The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end” (Isaiah 60:19-20).

“Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart,” is also written. Time slows down when the speed of light approaches it because God is light, and he created it. With God, there is no time. He is eternal.

Time is relative. It is not the same ‘for all observers,’ is how physicists put it. It’s why we have different time zones. What ‘time’ is it in your part of the world? Different intervals of time can be different depending upon where you are and how you’re moving.

A million years to God is nothing…

We occupy our space until our ‘time’ is finished. Twenty, thirty, or forty years can come and go in the blink of an eye. What do you want to accomplish here?

Live every day like it’s your last, and take advantage of the ‘time’ you have.

Happy Easter!☀️☦️💐

I would like to share an Easter note that I shared with contacts earlier. I have big plans for 2021 and hope that my experiences are as fruitful as they have been in the past! It would be nice to go on some business trips, and I hope that my upcoming book takes me on some exciting journeys again! I’ve always enjoyed traveling and networking at writer’s conferences and speaking events. I would love to go somewhere to see the Northern Lights, but I guess that will have to stay on my bucket list!:-) Another destination I would like to go to some time is Washington D. C. I have never been there. I am grateful for the travel I have had so far and know that with God there are new beginnings! I look forward to the friends I have not met and the book experiences I have not had yet. Click on the link below to read my note.

Merry Christmas!🎄🌠🌝

Dear friends,

I would like to share a Christmas note that I shared with contacts earlier. I have big plans for 2021 and hope that it is as fruitful as other years have been in the past! I plan on publishing my next book, “Not Without God: Hope In the Storm.” It would be nice to go on some relaxed vacations, and I am potentially planning one to Washington D.C. for February or March. Of course, I would love to go somewhere to see the Northern Lights, but I have to go to a reasonable place!:-) Another destination I would like to go to some time is Disney World. I have never been there either. I have a long history of teaching children, and I think it would be fun!

Well, Happy Sunday evening (before CHRISTmas!). Here is the link to my note:

String Theory Explains Everything!🎆🌎🪐

Did you know that scientists have come up with one unified theory to explain EVERYTHING? It’s called string theory, and it proves that everything in the universe is made up of tiny strings (EVERYTHING from the tiniest particle to the most distant star), and they replace the traditional sub-atomic particles like protons, neutrons, corks, and electrons. These strings are vibrating strands of energy! Just like a cello gives rise to musical notes, the vibrations in string theory make up all the constituents of nature.

It is where everything operates in the smallest of scales. God made the universe to be a symphony of vibrating strings.🎵🎶 Everything is in harmony! This theory suggests that there are multiple dimensions and parallel universes as well.🌗🪐 There could be other worlds right next door to us that are invisible.👀 What used to seem like science fiction is not so far-fetched anymore. It is all thanks to this new theory developed in the last twenty years. It’s an area of physics🌠 different from anything we’ve ever known!🌌

We are just one ‘slice’ in a loaf of bread 🍞 and there is no beginning and end. The Big Bang could’ve happened when two of these universes🌙🌚 collided. These tiny strands (strings)🎵🎶 are changing our ideas of everything we know about the universe, especially about the nature of space. And this theory is still in its infancy stages! Long before Einstein, physicists were on this quest for unification. They have resolved it!

Nothing can travel faster than the speed of light💡💫⚡️ (based on Einstein’s proven, theory of relativity). Einstein said that space is not static, it can warp and stretch and that there can even be wormholes (bridges or tunnels, cosmic shortcuts). But to create a wormhole, there has got to be a rip or hole in the fabric of space. Can the fabric of space really rip? According to string theory, it can!

Space can rip. If we could shrink down to a billionth of our normal size, we would enter the world of Quantum mechanics. Everything is chaotic there. Rips and tears in the universe are common. So one may ask, what would cause them from causing a cosmic catastrophe? Well, the strings calm the chaos. As they dance through space, they sweep out a tube, a protective shield with profound implications.

Strings make it possible for space to rip. Space is far more dynamic and changeable then even Einstein knew! One certain thing, string theory is already showing us the universe is a lot stranger than any of us ever imagined. We are surrounded by hidden dimensions. What we think of as our universe is just one small part of something bigger. There are entire worlds🎑 right next door to us!

This is how we know that ‘anything is possible.’ There is no need to be upset about any outcome. What doesn’t’ happen here, will happen in another universe. Everything is possible. This theory suggests that it is strings that we are made up of. Strings are versatile. They vibrate and dance in different patterns creating all of nature. Put them all together and we get a grand symphony called our ‘universe.’🎵🎶☁️ God is creating something beautiful!

Science & Physics

Are you aware that you are made from stardust? It’s true.🌟✨💫

Science has been proving it for decades. We are made from the very same elements that stars⭐️ are, these elements are called, CHNOPS, or carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, and sulfur. ‘Humans and their galaxy🌌, The Milky Way, have about 97 percent of the same kind of atoms,’ according to Space.com. Both humans and stars are a byproduct of the Big Bang!💥

Did you also know that light⚡️ is everything? Take a look at Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, it teaches us that the speed of light is constant and nothing is faster! God is light, according to the Bible, and he created it! Light can travel around the earth🌏 7.5 times in one second! Space-time🪐 adjusts to light, and we are a part of it.

The closer you get to the speed of light, the more time slows. That is because God is Eternal!☄️ With him there is no time at all. God cannot change. He stays the same. Yesterday. Today. And Forever.

Scientists have even proven that there are multiverses🪐, meaning, the Big Bang💥 has happened more than once. These findings should not challenge your faith, they should strengthen it. We are the only evidence of life. There are at least a hundred billion galaxies🌌, with each galaxy containing at least a hundred billion stars🌟 in it! God is not limited, neither is his grace or vastness.

He created the heavens and earth💨, also. Some Christians like to argue how old the earth is. Based on fact, we know it is millions, actually billions of years old. The universe is 13.8 billion years old. Science and the Book of Genesis correlate.

To reject science is to reject God in a way because he created it! The sun ☀️ is 9.8 billion years old, and humans came last. We could be around a few hundred thousand years old (that is my guess).

God is timeless, it is proven through Einstein’s theory of relativity, again. His ‘clock’ is not like ours. The theory of relativity proves that the speed of light causes it to have such an enormous mass, that time slows until it stops. It is eternity! A million years to you is nothing for God.

There is also this theory of entanglement in Physics. Entanglement means two particles can be separated (and no matter where they are, they can be light⚡️years away), they still imitate one another. The two particles will resemble and even behave the same way. Technically, we are ‘particles,’ according to Physics.

You see, the two particles are entangled. And entanglement makes up so much of the universe🪐. It is all over it. This is why physicists believe we can be here and ‘there’ at the same time. They are not sure where ‘there’ is. But they believe we may have parallel universes🌌.

We are entangled with Christ and are living with him. “Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him (Romans 6:8-9).’

The Bible continues… ‘The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God’ (Romans 6:10). We are made in his image.🙏

‘Anything that’s allowed by the Laws of Quantum Physics is represented in this menagerie of the universes.’ ~Brian Greene (World-renowned Physicist)

Did you know that Physics has proven it is possible for there to be a second coming of Christ? Today I would like to share a YouTube video by Brian Greene and Sam Harris. I’d imagine you haven’t seen it unless you are really interested in physics, like I am, or unless you are someone in the scientific field. In case you don’t know who Brian Greene is, he’s a physicist, string theorist, professor at Berkeley and a NY Times Best Selling author. Sam Harris is an author, philosopher, neuroscientist and famous podcast host!

Beware, though, if you are sensitive about topics like religion and veganism, you may be slightly offended because they joke around at times! “There is some construal of Quantum Mechanics where Jesus is physically resurrected and it’s not incompatible with physics,” says Sam Harris, the philosopher and famous podcast host. “There is some Quantum ‘spookiness’ that allows for a physical resurrection,” he continues.

Brian Greene responds, “Yes, if we are just many universes out there, and if you wait long enough in a given universe, random particle motion in the universe will coalesce into any physically reliable structure.” It’s called the Boltzmann Brain argument, and it’s named after Ludwig Boltzmann. In this physics-thought-experiment, ‘a Boltzmann brain is a fully formed brain, complete with memories of a full human life in our universe that arise due to extremely rare random fluctuations.’

So you see, AYTHING is possible!!

‘Theoretically, over a period of time, on the order of hundreds of billions of years, by sheer chance atoms in a void could spontaneously come together in such a way as to assemble a functioning human brain.’ Thus, the brain of Jesus!

Ludwig also realized that the universe may have existed effectively for an eternity, and just one weird particle motion at the right moment happened to evolve into everything we know and see now (THE BIG BANG!). His argument was, ‘that if you have an eternity,’ anything can happen. You see, there is NO beginning and NO end. Jesus is eternal, and so are WE!

He will come back again, possibly, through the clouds like the Bible says. And, THE BIG BANG, happened when God said, “Let there be light,”  (see the Book of Genesis 1:3). Start watching this video at 1.36:10 when the student asks them the question about religion if you’d like to see only that part! The entire video is Amazing, though!!

Enjoy! 🌌🌏🪐💫

‘Keeping Up With the Chaldeans’ (Not the Kardashians!) Interview

Check it out, everyone! This is my latest candid interview that I did before the stay-at-home orders (over two months ago) with my generous hosts, Anthony Toma, and Junior Binno. Here is the link to the YouTube show: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=keeping+up+with+the+chaldeans Please LIKE and subscribe! It is a MUST watch!

In case you don’t know who the Chaldeans are, they’ve been around since B.C. days and have developed a reputation for learning and knowledge of math, writing, and astronomy. Their greatest king was Nebuchadnezzar, the ruler of the Babylonian empire (from 605-562B.C.), and he was also the creator of one of the Seven Wonders of the World: The Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Babylonia is also referred to as ‘the land of the Chaldeans’ time and time again in the Bible. We originated in southern Mesopotamia, one of the cradles of civilization (along with India, Egypt, and China). I can speak the language, although, I was born in the U.S. I’m second generation.

I talk about my book, Not Without God: A Story of Survival, and recall my accident and other events including a healing work that was performed on my left arm! There is no greater time than now to watch! This should encourage, inspire, and help. I hope you enjoy it!

Self-help

Come to God (Now is a better time than ever)!🙏🏻😇🧚

I sought after God at a young age. It wasn’t until my accident happened that I really understood him. I saw Jesus in everyone. I experienced God in the three months I spent in the hospital. As strange as it may seem, for the first time—my life had some meaning.

I was broken, a teenager, I couldn’t predict the future ahead or if I would even survive–I had all these injuries and had become paralyzed. But I understood God on a different level. I was searching for purpose before it.

I had friends, family, lived in a good neighborhood and went to a good school, but I would ask God what life is really about. I knew he was there, but my surroundings had me confused. I felt his presence on a daily basis, but I wanted to understand him better.

As a child, I knew my path would be difficult. He would whisper it to me through secrets in my heart. He also told me that he would never leave me nor forsake me, and that in the end I would be with him forever!

I felt his love as though it were a security blanket while outside on my childhood bike rides. Perhaps I deliberately went outside so much to spend time alone with him. I have always needed him since I was a child.

My time alone with God has always been my peace. It gives me peace☮️, and it is crucial for me. I need to talk with him and pray to figure things out. I am not independent of God. In good times and in bad, I need him. God never leaves us no matter what.

He will be the one listening to us when we need a shoulder to cry on. He will be the one with us when something goes wrong! He will celebrate. He will cry. His love is eternal. He is always there. He cannot change.

God is light.✨ Einstein realized that the speed of light is the only thing that is constant. As a matter of fact, space and time🌌 adjust to light.⚡️ God is light, and he created it. It’s in the Book of Genesis. God cannot change. We have to.🥰

First and foremost, we have to allow him into our hearts. We have free will, so God will not impose his influence. We have to choose him. We are still his children; nonetheless, he won’t impose himself on us.

He is in control, always, and he shines his light on all of us whether or not we are ‘believers.’ But I urge you to choose God. Take a look at what I went through, and he brought me through. Choose God, even in the bad times. He has a plan for you.

The bible says, ‘I am the Lord who continuously heals you.’ That means healing is not a one time thing, it is not a one time event. God heals us continuously. I have never fully recovered since my accident, but God continuously heals me, and I am healthy!

God created science. God created medicine. My doctors saved my life!👨‍🔬 We have to listen to them and take their wise instruction! I hope for everyone to have this kind of knowledge. God is a fortress and a healer. He truly is our friend.

You never know how your life will turn out. I never expected to grow up with a physical challenge, but I am blessed to have this knowledge. He will come in when everyone else has gone out. He will come in when your life is too much to bear. He will pick you up, and save you! His love cannot fail.

COVID-19 outbreak, God, and you!😇💙🌏

In a country that is now the epicenter for the Corona Virus, we must be wondering how we got here. Some like to blame others. Either way, the numbers are growing, and when you wake up tomorrow, they will be larger, in a few days, they may even double! It is a scary time to be a citizen. It is a scary time to be on earth!

But here is some real-talk. God never promised us an easy life, or one without trials. He did promise he would never leave or forsake us, with him, we can get through this. We can smile in the midst of pain, we can hold our head up in the hour of uncertainty, we can laugh, again, and we can praise him all the while during these dire moments.

The love of God is the peace that surpasses all understanding. Many believe that if there is a God he would not allow us to suffer; however, suffering must exist. A suffering world does not mean that God doesn’t. It is the nature of human kind since the first sin of Adam that caused even death. However, Jesus is the second Adam, he is the life-giving one!

I suggest you give your life to him. I am not standing in judgement or claiming that I don’t mess up! I am praying to stay on a ‘faith-path,’ and this path of faith does require me to be patient. I am trying to stay on a ‘trusting God path,’ also, because that is all I can do right now. There are some things that are just out of our control.

God does give us free will, though, and the ability to make decisions. He doesn’t always know the outcome, but he does know all the possibilities of what can happen. He is the greatest chess player! He knows all the ways something can turn out. He is praying for us, but does not imposes his will. If he did, he would not be God, after all, because he promised us free will.

He stands and knocks at the door. We have to open it. We have to adhere to him. We have to ask him to lead us and guide us. We have to imagine his presence is there, because it is. This is a culture that teaches us to not use our imagination, and to only depend on our five senses, but if we continue to do so, we are rejecting God. We can ONLY see him through our imagination!

Scientists have even proven, our imagination is not a vehicle we can choose to use while on this planet, it is the vehicle through which we think! What are you imagining right now? Are you imagining love, a bright future, peace for all man-kind? What are you imagining? Are you letting the fear of the world take common place? Imagine a God who loves you so much that he died to redeem your soul!

Whenever, I have tried to depend on my self or on others, I have failed every time. God sits, he waits, he listens. He is a loving father. We can have a direct connection, and what is more beautiful than that? It starts in your intuition. Are my words resonating, yet? If they are, take my advice. No happiness on earth can compare to what the Lord can give you.

No big house, no nice car, no amount of children, nor wealth, nothing can compare to how much God loves you and to what he has prepared. Mansions in heaven! Heaven is a wondrous place that you cannot even fathom. Earth is where moth and rust destroy, and we have pesticides here. But set your mind on things above; not on earthy things, for we are only here for a time.doc with wings

I learned at a young age how man-kind can save your life through wisdom and knowledge. I was in a catastrophic accident that most would never live through, but God saved me through doctors and through medicine. In a culture where we are taught that individualism is important, we need each other now more than ever. I was only sixteen, and those doctors did everything! The odds were against me, but I called out to him in my dark hours.

Things can turn for the better now so long as we listen to our leaders and scientists. God whispers the secrets of the earth within their hearts. We have to respect one another. If we don’t it is not doing us any good right now. I have been in a hospital bed, on a ventilator, unable to eat solid food and fighting for my life. It is the miracle of medicine that healed me, and medicine is a miracle I will never take for granted.

Neither should you. We are all called to this hour. This is about more than politics, this is about more than the left or the right. This is about more than religion. This is about you and God! Make the right decisions!

God–the Ultimate IT Guy!📱🎚🌌

“The universe is a physical system that contains and processes information in a systematic fashion and can do everything that a computer can do.”✨

Have you ever thought of the Universe as a Hologram? Your answer is probably, ‘no.’ But scientific findings through world-renowned physicists, like Leonard Susskind (look him up!), and Gerard ‘t Hooft (Nobel Prize winner) are now proving it is true! We are on a 2-Dimensional surface; this 3-Dimensional space seems to be nothing more than an illusion.

In case you don’t know what a Hologram is… It’s a 3-D surface formed by the interference of light beams from a laser or other coherent LIGHT source!

It’s called the Holographic Principle, and the principle teaches that ALL the things that fall into a black hole are somehow captured in a preserved image at the horizon itself. Physicists believe this activity happens not only in a black hole, but throughout the entire universe!

0BD4E4D1-2B23-406D-A790-7A1441DAF188
Black Hole!

A black hole is a region of space-time exhibiting gravitational acceleration so strong that not even light can escape from it! They are impossible for astronauts to observe.

Physicists think of the world as being driven by mathematical formulas. God made all of these equations to work.

Apparently, the universe sits on a 2D grid, where information about EVERYTHING is stored, information about you, me, everything on the planet, the stars, and other planets, (you get it!). Think of the virtual reality in the movie, “The Matrix,”🎬.

This theory was tested extensively. Imagine a tea pot or shoe fell down a black hole, the objects would not disappear. They would actually be fine when they reach the bottom, and their “information” would be stored on the surface. The number one rule of physics is that energy can never be destroyed or created, it can only be transformed! Another basic rule–information, megabytes, or ‘bits’ cannot be destroyed, either.

This is a breakthrough in science and a huge miracle! God–the ultimate Computer Designer is revealing to us every day just how A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. he is!

The physical universe exists ONLY because we perceive it. It is largely made up in our imagination as we move through time and space. If you would like to learn more about this topic, download this link: “A Thin Sheet of Reality: The Universe as a Hologram” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnETCBOlzJs – World Science Festival!

“Life is a dance between you and God; all else us an illusion, it’s a manifestation of his love.”

‘Not Without God’–a Passage

Today I would like to share a little bit of writing from my book, Not Without God: A Story of Survival:

Here is a passage:

‘As a child, I knew my path would not be easy. The Lord told me. Not in words but in feelings and in thoughts. I would ride my bicycle up and down our street, we lived in a cul-de-sac, and I would climb to the top of the tree. I was active. I’d play sports. I was kind of a tom boy, and I heard from God on my daily bike rides–I felt his presence strongly and he would say, “This road will not be easy, Zina, but I will never leave you nor forsake you.” I knew it would be difficult. These were more of ‘whispers in my heart.’ God was introducing me to what was to come, but letting me know that I would get through it.

At seventeen years of age, practicing how to walk!

After my accident at just sixteen, I had severe injuries, my spine not only broke but shifted at the (mid) thoracic level. My tibias and fibias were shattered in both legs as well as in my left femur bone. I needed rods and screws to hold my broken bones in place. I had a C1 fracture, and I’m lucky it wasn’t worse. That kind of injury can leave someone a quadriplegic (a quadriplegic typically loses usage of their legs and their arms, they may even have breathing trouble and need a trach).

I was told by a select few doctors that I would never walk, and today I am able to ambulate with forearm crutches or a walker. Unless it is icy and snowy out, or unless I am not feeling good. I especially use a wheelchair on ‘icy’ days because I have had a few falls!

It’s ironic because the street I grew up on was called “Gramercy Ct.,” and archaically, the word “Gramercy” is used to express gratitude, the word ‘mercy’ can mean, forgiveness or ‘many thanks.’ I am thankful to be alive so I don’t think that the name of my childhood street was a coincidence.

I am able to walk with AFOs (an ankle-foot orthosis) now, because my braces have been cut down through the years since I’ve gotten stronger, but it was something I had to ask about. A physical therapist will rarely ask if you want less of a walking brace, I mean, they evaluate you at periodic evaluations but as with all recoveries, one needs to be proactive.

The reason I am telling this story is because my life is a miracle, and so is the ability to walk. I don’t take it for granted, and I thank God every day! I want you to know that whatever it is you are going through–you can make it, too! As long as you persist, work hard, and have faith!

May God bless you all…

Have your dreams been met?🙏✨🌟

Have you found what you’ve been searching for? Do you know what it is? Have you accomplished what you’ve been dreaming about? If not, how can you get to it? There is no limit to what God can do. But we are the miracle workers, too. Without Him we can do nothing, but we have to do something to start! We can be co-workers with God!

When you are praying for your wishes to come true, you are RECEIVING, too. Whether you realize it or not, God is giving. You open the gateway. The Holy Spirit gives you guidance. You may not hear directly from the Lord. However, once you ask or make prayer requests, there is an unfolding of events that take place and you eventually get your answers.

The essence of faith is the ability to see something good in your life with no evidence.

Although everything does not turn out the way we want it to. There is God’s will, and there is our will—they don’t always coincide. The sooner you accept that the happier you will be. Take heart, though, God knows what is best for you, when something doesn’t work out the way you want it to—remember, God could’ve been shielding you, or teaching you a life-lesson.

There will be new experiences, you will plan, hope, and believe!

When I got out of the hospital after my accident at sixteen, I got settled at home, I pondered upon how I would go back to school. I was active before it. It took me a long time to adjust and even think of myself as beautiful. I knew that life would be difficult. I wondered what it would be like. I wondered if I would make new friends, or have a career like I always wanted.

I wondered about my future, a lot.

I hoped that I would one day walk again, and indeed, I am, but not the way I expected to. I use crutches (the kind with the rings around the arms) because of weakness, pain and tightness. Considering the fact that there were a few physicians who predicted I would not walk at all, I have made huge progress.

I held onto what I knew–God would get me through, because that is his promise!

I didn’t know what the next day would bring; I could not predict anything. But I knew that with God by my side, overcoming would become second nature!

I’m someone who wants to maintain a relationship with the Lord. Even when friendships failed, I knew Jesus would be there. Every time someone rejected me, I became closer to him. I want you to remember that in your trials; His love is sufficient.

Making God your best friend can prepare you for any life event. Throughout my life, I’ve asked God what to do. Jesus says “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever” (John 14:16).

The advocate is the Holy Spirit, and He will lead and guide you. Get to know God as soon as you can. Talk to God like you would your best friend.  Was there a time when you knew that only he could help? Were you ever in a desperate place? A minute to minute, moment to moment, dependence-on-God-kind-of-place?

Maybe you weren’t too spiritual when you encountered it, or maybe you were but then needed Him more than ever before!!!💫

Thy Kingdom Come!🙏🦋🌍

The Book of Isaiah: prophecy–“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder, And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgement and justice. From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this (Isaiah 9:6-7).”

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts,

As we forgive our debtors.

And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever!”

It is the Lord who tells us to pray in this manner. We are actually asking for that kingdom to come ‘on earth as it is in heaven,’ the kingdom where Jesus is the ruler! As it is prophesied in Isaiah 9, that He will have the “government upon his shoulders.” What does every kingdom have? A government. The government in heaven is much more superior to this one and lasts forever! There are people under this government just like there are on earth. There’s a thought, eh? Who are they? Will you be there? (These were the topics explored on my Bible study call tonight that I wanted to share!)

Self-help

On Love & Relationships! ♥️♥️♥️

God is perfecting a work in you, and he is no way finished. The life of someone who follows Jesus is not an easy one, because he is continually molding and shaping us.

There will be hardships, at times you will face rejection and even feel all alone. Nonetheless, God will never leave you. He is the only One that will bring you through.

He doesn’t love you any less when you fail—he knows you will mess up! But the whole point is that you want to make it right with him.

I tend to retreat when I am angry because I can cool off and collect my thoughts. Retreating is not always the best option. Some situations are difficult and chronic no matter what.

Don’t get under the impression that you can live alone and that you do not need anyone, some people run, but this is only a temporary solution—we need each other.

You can release stress by talking about it. Make sure you are talking to a trusted friend. Someone you know really well.

Turning to your journal is a great reliever. It can help you figure things out. This is my number one way of dealing with issues. It’s effective because you can let it all out.

This way you are able to notice any unhealthy patterns in your thinking, or you can think of strategies on how to resolve the problem.

Of course praying is powerful. I see prayer as a way of talking in your journal out loud. When you pray you are talking to the Holy Spirit. He hears you even before you convey the message. God knows the thoughts of our hearts.

3b440670-8079-42ea-b979-a73dcbcd5f18-e1577470339648.png

He knows our fears, insecurities, and doubts. He knows when we are being fair and when we are not being treated well.

That is why prayer, or talking about it to Him is effective. It’s another way of sorting out your thoughts.

The fruits of the spirit are “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).” I hope to possess all of these more.

Life is a dance between you and God. All else is an illusion; it’s a manifestation of His love. So how you treat others is significant because you are truly having relations with the Lord. The Holy Spirit lives inside of us.

Heaven Is For Real!

“Life has a myriad of opportunities that await us!”

As I read this line, I almost can’t believe I wrote it. All of the positive things I’ve written, make so much sense, but none of them feel as powerful as they once did—since I lost my father a month ago. Dad departed this earth and went to heaven on November 23, 2019, and my life will never be the same again. My dad and I were close. While I know he is in a better place, and I don’t mean that to sound cliché, I still miss him so very much!

My mind swirls with things I could’ve done different, more time I could’ve spent, I am filled with sadness, and the pain of knowing I won’t get to see him on a daily basis anymore really hurts. I visited him every chance I got and was his caregiver for many years. I really watched over him as best I could! Apparently, that wasn’t enough. The disease still got him in the end. It’s hard for me to even write this post.

I don’t want to work anymore. I wonder why I aspired to do so much before this, my dad was more important to me than anyone. If only I hadn’t traveled, if only I hadn’t extended myself and been so busy, if only I would’ve stayed at home more.

While I know it was REALLY hard for him here, I am still sad that he is not with me anymore. I keep thinking, if only I had more time… At the same time I know there is hope, I feel a peace and warmth of love that I have never quite felt before. It is coming from my dad and Jesus. With that said, I’d like to leave you with this video—this miraculous story that I believe to be true!

It was a book that became a New York Times bestseller that sold over 13,000,000 copies and even became a movie! This is a one-of-a-kind interview with Pastor Todd and Colton Burpo! I have had some correspondence with them by email and they are genuine people. I am sure you will be able to spot that from watching the video.

Heaven is for real, yes, and we will be there. Heaven is a journey, also, not only a destination. Our journey to heaven has already begun. With that said, one piece of scripture I want to leave you with is this one: “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. In that day you will no longer ask me anything (John 16:22-23).” ~Jesus

And I hope you enjoy the video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmNrQ7Smung

With much love & respect,

Run the Race to Win It!🏃🏆🥇

Lately I’ve been thinking of HOW MUCH I am doing and how full my schedule is, but you know what, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The idea of sitting down and doing nothing for gaps of periods in time frightens me. Here is why:

I am in a race. I am aware of that, and there are others running with me. And if I want to be the first to pass the finish line (OR, even get to it!), I have to get up and do something!! Once you slow down, you watch others pass you by. Now how are you going to feel when others are making huge strides?

Life is about more than you realize, we are not only here for ourselves, but we are here for EACH OTHER, also—to give instruction, to be a model, to HELP! Once you give up, the people behind you (that you may not even know pay attention), give up, also! Just like I tell my students: here are the instructions, I am going to give them to you, but I can’t “spoon-feed them.”

You’re going to have to read THE INSTRUCTIONS, you’re going to have to do the research, you’re going to have to work. Run! Each of us has our own race and destiny. NO one can determine the outcome but YOU! What are you going to do, today? Are you going to participate?

I have worked through pain. I have gotten up and showed up. Every. Single. Day. You have one job to do. You either get it, or miss it! Don’t be in the ‘miss it’ category, because you will regret it!

We live in a society where the focus is too much on ourselves; instead of being focused on our OWN needs and what WE want, let’s keep in mind Christ who sacrificed SO MUCH for others (you and I!).

Let’s give this season with Advent right around the corner and remember, this is not the season of burn-out, this is not the season of weariness, this is the season to RUN the RACE and FINISH! And believe, me, you will be restored if your heart is in the right place!

Clint Arthur’s “Living Legends of Entrepreneurial Marketing” Part 2 🎉🍾

I’ve been back from the “Living Legends of Entrepreneurial Marketing” for nearly a week, and I can’t stop thinking about it! I want to go back! As a matter of fact, this time last week I was sitting on a boat, the beautiful “Bateaux,” it was a gorgeous night, and I got to see the New York skyline!🌇

3F646D47-6F92-4FC3-A737-08F1218B4751
At Zankel Hall in Carnegie Hall getting ready to watch the show!

And what a view it was, I got to see celebrities like Ice-T and his wife, Coco, Martha Stewart, Dylan Howard (the Chief content officer of American media, who shared exclusive stories about Charlie Sheen!), Hal Elrod (author of 2 million copies sold), Micheal Gerber (of the E-myth, multiple #1 New York Times best-seller), Alex Mandossian, Steve Larsen (#1 funnel hacker for ClickFunnels, and part of the two-comma club—an elite group of online entrepreneurs that have reached one million dollars, or ‘two commas’).🤑😆

I can’t leave out Jerry Greenfield (of Ben & Jerry’s🍧) who even served me ice cream, and told the story of how him and Ben split the money for a $5 course! He said their ice cream was becoming a hit, but Haagen Dazs was bigger, so Pillsbury stopped selling Ben & Jerry’s on their trucks! That was illegal, so they started a campaign called, “What is the dough boy afraid of?” 😂 And they put a stop to it!

With Martha Stewart! At 79, she’s beautiful and still knows everything!💕

W/Jerry of Ben & Jerry’s, Ice-T, Coco, & Steve Larsen!!!🤩

Some takeaways I got:

“You can’t just be on TV, you have to do something exceptional!” ~Martha Stewart

“Success is to be emotionally, financially, and mentally stable!” ~Walter O’Brien

“The greatest gift you can give to people you LOVE and LEAD is your full potential! ~Michael Gerber

“The most POWERFUL element of marketing is CURIOSITY (‘How did this person do this, get this, and be this…?’)” ~Clint Arthur

“There is a new creature inside of you, waiting to be ‘born.’” ~Michael Gerber

I’ll admit going on this trip was not easy for me; my dad has had a significant amount of Alzheimer’s, and it is worsening. I distribute his medicine daily, and do the same for my mom, too. I had to schedule for caregivers and call substitutes to teach my courses.

884216D6-2EB3-4F68-A348-F19C7E8411E6
BUT, it was SO worth it!!! I loved every minute!!!

Below I am with Michael Gerber of the E-Myth, published in 1992, millions of copies have been sold! He says that he didn’t do everything that happened to him, he says “it did it!”😄 And Rick Warren “built his church” on Gerber (not on the Bible). lol Rick Warren, best-selling author of The Purpose Driven Life (the most popular book next to the Bible!).

Michael Gerber has been Rick’s mentor and credits Rick and says, “He is a Living Legend!”❤️💚🧡

And here are some more pics with fabulous people!

Below was on the second day after I arrived. It was beautiful and sunny with a crisp wind, and I didn’t know what to expect. I knew I would be exposed to some ‘elite’ people! Tim, the second from the left is from Michigan, also, so we talked about that a little bit, and it was a good icebreaker! Linda and I hit it off, with her being a caregiver (like I am), and having a daughter with some challenges.

By the way, the food at the Red Eye Grill was pure deliciousness!🍹🥗🥖

Clint gave out ‘Film Fest awards’ and there were actors and writers, adding a little more Hollywood!🎬

These people were so honored! ✨🎤

I also posted Clint’s live webinar on my social media a few times! It was a post-Carnegie Hall one where he gave me a special shout-out and pointed to my blog!❤️ He says I am AWESOME & QUALIFIED! I’m still smiling!😄

Clint Arthur’s “Living Legends of Entrepreneurial Marketing”🎉🎈🌇

I had the greatest time at “Living Legends of Entrepreneurial Marketing” at Carnegie Hall in New York this past weekend! No words can describe it. It was a three day conference, but like none I have ever been to before! It went beyond my expectations.

Me with Ice-T & Coco!!!!😁

Ice-T & his wife, Coco, Martha Stewart, and other speakers were there! Steve Larsen (the funnel hacker, whose built 500 funnels for Russell Brunson), Walter O’Brien (Scorpion, the ‘smartest man in the world’), Dylan Howard (Chief editor of the National Enquirer, Chief content officer of American media), Hal Elrod (best-selling author), Micheal Gerber, Alex Mandossian, and Jerry Greenfield (of Ben & Jerry’s), who served me with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream, were all there!

With Jerry of Ben & Jerry’s!🍦😁

I was a VIP at the event, and more TV and radio personalities attended along with actors and writers, there were even ‘Film Fest’ awards! By the way, I got a director’s contact number.😉

THEN, there was a BOAT cruise that was soo much fun!!!! I had to pinch myself. A deluxe dinner cruise up the Hudson River on the beautiful Bateaux New York, we saw the Statue of Liberty up close!

People came in from Australia, Denmark, Norway, and Canada! It was a growth experience I will never forget it.

… pictures and stories cannot even do it justice! You had to be there! But that’s just the thing, not EVERYONE could be so I want to share some more pics.

I even got to go to a little Italian restaurant and eat “mezze” and enjoy a glass of wine (or two😉), near Times Square right in the heart of New York! It’s underground, the kind of restaurant you would find in the movie “Godfather!”

Aren’t we cute?

There was a lot more I don’t have time to include right now, but finally, I wanted to add some popular quotes. I took A LOT of notes, and these were the ones that I picked out to share!

• “As an entrepreneur, you are going to fail! Do not give up!” ~Ice-T

• “Be PRESENT. Find what the “secret” is for you!” ~Michael Gerber

• “Story is what people buy, they never buy the product!” ~Steve Larsen

• “It doesn’t matter what you sell, the product is YOU!!!” ~Clint Arthur

• “It is WHO you are and WHO you are perceived to be, that is the game!” ~Clint Arthur

With Clint Arthur, my favorite mentor, speaker, coach!❤️

• “By the time you’re clients come to you, they should ALREADY have come to you, IF they can get to you!!!!” ~Clint Arthur

• “The marketing of what you do, IS more important than what you do!” ~Clint Arthur

• “ You are able to position your brand or cause by the POWER of celebrity.” ~Dylan Howard

• “The PROCESS is critical, NOT the product!” ~Michael Gerber

I was surrounded by beautiful and accomplished people: doctors, innovators, people who create solar energy, manage cyber security, one of them talked about developing medicine dispensers, and there were leaders in construction.

I thought, how did I get here, and how am I sitting among these people with SO much wealth and talent, it was a miracle!

More Than a Teacher, My Latest Role

My dad got out of a nursing home last week (people don’t typically leave those places), and given his age and condition, he could use around the clock help and supervision. So I am wearing the hat of full time caregiver along with my mother and his aide, and I am thankful I can handle all of this!

This new position has required me to practically move back in with my parents (I have not given up my home, though :-), but this is after being on my own since I was 23 years old! My mom doesn’t have the frequent memory lapses, or ask repetitive questions or make repetitive statements like my dad does, but I do administer her medication because she has had more than one slip up, but I will save that for another article.

I am not only an extra set of hands and feet, but an extra pair of eyes, also. I distribute all their medicine, as I already mentioned. I don’t know if this will be a long term thing, but I know I am where I need to be now. One thing I have learned, is that whenever the universe has called you to do something that requires MORE of yourself, do it because if you don’t, you are passing up a chance to make a difference. When you don’t take the opportunity to help, you are the one losing.95CC7B90-376C-48E7-A3AD-7B36DD1AF0F6.png

My dad has general weakness (due to his heart disease) and he’s on oxygen. Interestingly enough, when I watch him and my mom socialize (more like, hear them from my bedroom where I spend most of my time there), it seems like he never left! You can tell they are happy he is finally home, and I am also!

Sometimes in life we have to make sacrifices, and it may not seem right or even comfortable to make the choice to give up so much of our free time, or to change our regular pattern and lifestyle, but keep in mind that Jesus did not come to teach us to be independent, but to depend and rely on one another!

I have been on my own for so long and have always had an adventurous spirit. I have sought out to get what I can out of life and have tired myself just to make my dreams come alive! I am all about opportunity and freedom. I believe that all too often we put ourselves first, though, and not attend to others. We live in what seems to be a “me me me” culture.

Living with my parents takes me back to my past, and it was imperfect, I didn’t have the best of childhoods. I searched for God a lot before my accident, meaning, I knew he was there, and I strongly felt his presence. But I wanted to understand him better. I knew he was greater than what I was experiencing.

Through my accident, I got to know him, and really saw his love through others. The people who were fighting for my life (my doctors and nurses), family, and friends (who visited) were the ones that helped me during those difficult times! You see, we need each other.

And now is the greatest time to reach out, take yourself outside of your comfort zone, and attend to someone even through a simple phone call or visit. Make a difference!

What Do You Have to Give?

We are living in an age where hatred and violence have become common place; we wake up to bad news of shootings (in schools, churches, malls, at Walmart), and in the last episode there were two of them within 24 hours!

I will give you a little background story and try to demonstrate (in my own views) what I think God is searching for out of us, and I hope, maybe, it will help you—the general population (or whoever reads this)!

Going to church as a young child often felt like a scary experience—I knew that the priest was often telling us ‘not to do something,’ and that if we did, ‘we would go to hell’ and God would not let us into heaven.

Don’t get me wrong, though, I have many beautiful memories of attending mass, especially on holidays. But I distinctively remember being aware that I had to learn more than this, because I knew that just going to church would not give me the full experience.

I knew God was great, but I wanted to understand him better. God was not one of vengeance and retribution, God was not one eager to send people to the fire pit; I knew God loved me, and even more so, now, I’ve learned how much He loves the outcast, those who are difficult, and even unlikable.

As an adult who has read and done my own research, sought after truth, studied and prayed (a lot), I have some favorite authors and people that I follow, some of which I have never met. But they are on my Twitter (Thank God Twitter is about more than the tweets of Donald Trump)!

So much of our faith is about love. There is a place referred to as ‘Hades’ in the bible, but I’ll admit, I’m not sure exactly what the translation is, I believe it means some form of hell, though. I am no Greek scholar, I do not know Latin, and I am no expert on the bible. However, I have read many parts of it. In case you’re interested, the NIV is a favorite version because it is so clear.

But one thing I’ve learned throughout my studies are, God wants you to give: I believe that when we give, we receive. You reap what you sow.  But the whole point of giving is not to receive, it is just for the sake of giving! Jesus was a giver. Give to charities, give through your selfless actions, give through acts of kindness, give through a smile, give through advice, give through anything that would be pleasing to him.

God wants us to reconcile, also: we have to live in community with one another. Although we live in an individualistic culture, realize your reliance on each other. That is why we should forgive, forget, let go, and move forward. Of course, there should be boundaries after people have hurt us. But we are not meant to live alone, we are meant to live among each other.

Isn’t it nice when you know the names of your neighbors? When you can greet someone you know at the market with a smile, or when you run into an old friend? Doesn’t it feel good when someone comes to visit? We are meant to live together.

God wants us to be peacemakers. He says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Kingdom faith means living among one another; kingdom faith means being meek and humble; GIVING and knowing you will be comforted no matter what.

Give, love (the people that God would love, all people) and be a peacemaker!EA2EBDF5-6E39-413F-B1AE-B175F27E6E5D

Democratic Presidential Debates!

I went downtown for the Democratic Presidential Debates in Detroit on July 30 and July 31. What an experience! I’ve been to a few political events, but this was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. It was surreal, but I wasn’t able to get into the beautiful Fox Theatre (I was told I needed a pass from CNN), however, I still met some wonderful people!

Amy and Kristin (on the left) travel the country and go to these types of events. They are both from Detroit, but Amy currently lives in Chicago. They told me they are big “donors.” Totally sweet and kind ladies!

Then, something I dreamt of happened, I met Chris Cuomo and got a photo with him!!! He’s my favorite journalist, and I watch him every night! His show is on at 9pm EST, and it’s called “Cuomo Prime Time.” He is brilliant and someone I greatly admire! I keep on smiling.😊 I’ve also added some more pics.

Failure Is a Stepping Stone

The fact that you are in control of nothing can be a scary one, but trust the outcome will be good no matter what, you are NOT alone, you can live in peace! Know that every step is directed when you walk by faith, and in that, there is no opportunity for failure.

803c3f5c-602a-41c7-9b8f-e80f0029dbb6-e1564069014420.jpegSometimes miracles happen in a way you least expect. Nonetheless, they will happen to you if you PERSIST. You may be praying for a financial solution, or for restoration of a relationship. Sacrifice is a part of love, though; you may not get everything you want in life, and sometimes we give up what we want for others—I know this all too well, I’m a caregiver.

Culture teaches that we should not settle for less, and that we should not be uncomfortable. But sometimes love calls us to put others before us, and the beautiful thing is you can hear from the Spirit through other people, for me this is a big one, I feel it working through so many—I will call the people that God sends “advocates,” or friends.

It is easy to distinguish who may not be here to help us, but believe it or not, they play a role, also. When others hurt you, they provide you with a life lesson, there is something you needed to learn or gain out of that relationship.

I know it sounds crazy, but even those that hurt you are part of the plan. There is a reason you went through that, often times God will replace it with new friendships, it is in the hurt that you almost always thrive, grow, and become better!

So much of life is about your attitude, and how you deal with loss, pain, or rejection. I’m resilient. I have my moments, but I always bounce back. You have to, you cannot stay down because of any one instance. If you do, you will never know what the future holds. Happy energy draws good experiences!

So stop looking to hurts or failures you may have had in the past. Stop thinking about what you would like to do and make it happen! Stop trying to control the outcome of what you have no control over, because all you can control is how you react. Learn to find peace in everything!

Is Writing A Desire or A Calling?

Are you a writer? Have you found your niche? What do you write about? Right now the popular trends are diversity, culture, and social issues. It’s important to write about topics that people care about. But keep in mind that your writing is not for everyone. Who is in your target market? I’m sure your ideas have been explored. Someone may have wanted to encourage others through their personal struggle, or they may have had a similar idea for a novel. With 1.5 million books out each year, make sure your writing is really good! We are not all meant to be writers. We can practice the skill, and I recommend it if you want to grow in your business.

But be aware that you will work long hours. The more you write the more confident you will become, though. It will become easier to convey your messages. If family or work obligations don’t allow time for it, ask yourself if writing is really your calling. It’s normal to feel fear. You may have a fear of failure or a fear of not fitting in. You may have a fear of going too far! I believe there are endless possibilities for all of us to be successful in some endeavor. But if you are meant to be a writer, your words will not only change the reader, they will change you, also!

Recently I was approached by a company that asked me to take the pay-to-publish method. I was told that If I do business with them, my book may be “picked up” by one of their larger (recognizable) parent companies because they would take note of it. There are all kinds strategies and gimmicks that people use to get you to buy their products—but before you dive deep into your pocket, learn how to write better. Learn how to write a book proposal or a pitch. Start with a one liner!

Writing takes determination and persistence. You can’t give up. If you are serious, you won’t be able to stop no matter what. You will keep on going despite any criticism or rejection.  I’ve joined writers groups. Most publishers may not pay attention to you until you are established online, so start building your platform. Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn are important. This is where you can connect with your potential audience.

Create your own blog, or try to write a magazine article. Begin a monthly newsletter. I started by writing Ezine articles. Those short essays can eventually turn into chapters. Maybe one day you can compile an organized manuscript. The exposure will help you seal any potential deals. I’m still working on my craft. It can take years to develop your voice, but once you do it will be worth it because writing is an art and a fascinating field!

Ever think about giving up? Don’t.

If you don’t try you will never know what God has in store. Stay the course.  We have the capability of improving our lives. Small steps are motivators!

I achieved my goal of walking a mile yesterday! I’m sore, but it’s worth it. I have to keep on going. As I think back, I’m disappointed—this time last year—I was up to one hour straight on the elliptical (doing more than 3 miles). I am not far from that, so I am going to shoot for 10,000 feet.

In the last several months, I have become a full time caregiver, not only distributing medicine, but making frequent visits, and sometimes staying in hospitals with loved ones for several hours. I’m an emergency contact. I’m an advocate and a “scheduler.”

I’m working on endurance when it comes to walking, though, and it’s really coming along. I keep track of my steps on a counter, and I’m increasing them. I’m so grateful for my life experiences, and for the friends I have made!

ed6547f2-71e6-4625-b8c8-0e6d8776c65f-e1562953387204.pngI’m excited about an upcoming trip to New York in the fall. I will be going to an event at Carnegie Hall! I will get to watch and learn from world-changers, speakers, experts, and authority figures who have made a difference. I will get to meet celebrities, also!

Being in NY will give me the greatest feeling, and I am really looking forward to it! My hard work has brought me here, the late nights, the lack of sleep, and the pain in my body from just sitting up and writing for so long has paid off.

I hope that my writing will one day have a big impact, and in some ways I believe it already has. I never gave up on my hope of walking after my accident; I was determined to have the career I always wanted, and it is very exciting to see that come to fruition.

We have an amazing God who always keeps his promises so long as we call on him! We all have burdens, to each his own, and they are not here to hinder us—but to make us better—to teach us patience, to be kind, and to love one another. God wants to perfect a great work in us!

Out of the Storm!

15FDA52C-7FDE-4923-97CE-B92760292861.jpegI’m able to maintain a sense of inner peace even when there are storms all around me. I questioned myself the other day. Someone else in my situation may not feel this way. How could I be? Then I was reminded that happiness lies within us. The waters may be rising in anticipation of a flood, but you may be content. The flood waters will not “swallow you up.” I remembered, again, that happiness comes from deep within. It doesn’t lie in material things, nor does it lie in your status. It’s not in any labels you add. It comes from within. It’s a permanent happiness you can possess. It’s the one that is reborn every time the temporal happiness ceases to exist.

Whenever you start to feel unhappy, remember that eventually you will return to that place. Let go of worries, fears, selfish desires, pressure, disappointments, or the desire to win! Permanent happiness can only come from within. We are meant to be happy creatures, but culture often teaches us there is a void. We may feel we ‘need to have’ this or that, in order to be fulfilled. Just take a look at the world around us. It’s wonderful to be thankful, and no one would be happy about living in poverty, for example, but really count your blessings, and realize how much you have, you will think about what you are missing much less!

Hillsong UNITED Concert!!!

457541C5-9D8B-49BC-9BA4-A209A39B97D7I’ve been to many concerts, but I was particularly excited about the one last night! I went to the EMU Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, MI to see a performance by Hillsong UNITED!!! It was everything I expected and more more more!!! I was in tears half the time and so deeply moved by them. I love to watch their videos and listen to their music, but there is nothing like seeing them live!

I have seen many performers. I’ve seen Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rascal Flatts, Jewel and many many others! I am definitely a concert girl. Listening to music is one of my hobbies, and I often do it at home while I write. Seeing Hillsong was soo special, though! This is a little church out of Australia that has become global. And now they have churches all over the world!!!

The first Hillsong college is in Pheonix. I screamed so loud and sang their songs along with them. I really hope I didn’t annoy the people sitting next to me. Although I did get a compliment from one of the girls. She said my voice was beautiful😉. I had to park 10,000 feet away but it reminded me that I am still in shape. There were so many people!

One of my favorite lyrics from their song “So Will I” sticks out in my mind. They are referring to God and say, “You don’t speak in vain, no syllable empty or void.” I love this line so much because I love words, and it demonstrates the profound power of the Lord. The bible says the tongue can be an unruly evil.

“He’s a personal God not some distant far off deity, he came in here with you tonight.” ~Joel Houston♥️

There are times when I have spoken, maybe even argued a little ;-) and it was unnecessary or “in vain.” This lyric helps remind me to talk less and listen better. Their music is about more than religion. Its about having a personal relationship with God. Pure. Dependence. Jesus is a common topic in their songs, and their music is poetic while paraphrasing bible verses. It is beyond beautiful!!!

As I was listening and singing (out loud) and praying with them at various times, I heard the Lord whisper in my heart. “Zina, these are my disciples.” I said, Lord, I want to be your disciple, too. I know I’ve messed up, but I want to come home to you. Their faith is remarkable. And Joel said they were going to shut down the venue. I can tell they don’t sleep much. They are always coming out with new songs, and I left with a t-shirt and their new CD!!!!

Some Things I’ve Learned

These last few months have been particularly stressful, and I feel like my life has been flipped upside down. But I won’t get into all of that right now. What has happened will come up later. So stay tuned for more.

Nonetheless, I have not given up. In my book, there is no such thing as giving up! It is never too late to heal. But we cannot heal the things we don’t acknowledge. That’s right. We are able to heal ourselves.

We have a marvelous God who never gives up on us! I’ve always held onto what I know–God will get me through. After my accident at the age of sixteen years old, I didn’t know what the next day would bring.

I could not predict anything. But I knew that with God by my side, overcoming would become second nature. It did! Writing helps me process my thoughts. There are some things I’ve learned that I want to share.

There has been a lot of pain coming up in my mind. Solid truths that are undeniable and issues I avoid. But when you keep an open heart, you keep an open life! When you extend yourself it means a lot. People see your works and are inspired. They, too, may rise up and face challenges of their own.

Finally, let go of everything you think you are holding onto. Ultimately, you are not the one in control. So whenever fear tries to hold you back, remember to take risks. Fear tells us we have to hold tightly to our lives. But fear is a liar. Because God will see you through!

Are You Grieving?

Grief can be an interesting thing. You may be grieving and not even know it. Life can take you through phases, and sometimes it takes a while to adjust to the fact that things aren’t going to be the same. But you will eventually accept them and even see life through a different lens.

Never believe you’ve hit a dead end. Life has a myriad of opportunities that await us. Keep a good attitude. You may think you cannot accomplish something, or that it is too late. But life is full of new beginnings!

It can take a long time to accept your circumstances. Denial is the first stage. But you will be happy. You will smile and believe. You will hope. You will plan. You will open your heart to new experiences again!

We are Being Renewed Every Day!

Life can be difficult. But the beauty of it is we always get a second chance. Even when we mess up we can make things right again. The verse below speaks to my soul because I am reminded daily of how we are vulnerable. It is challenging to not lose heart when so much is not in our hands. But if our “inner selves” are being renewed we must not give up! The Holy Spirit can instruct us. You can even have a direct connection with Him. When we ask to be led, he will be able to guide us and we can overcome anything. Whenever you fail, know that Jesus is there. Become closer to the Lord and remember that in your trials His love is enough! 7EF579E3-5086-4CCD-9804-6123BAF92EA7

On Teaching

I Try to Walk on a “Faith path”

I try my best to walk a faith path. A path of faith requires patience because when you walk by it, you cannot be impulsive. A faith path will not allow you to make rash decisions. You think things through. You pray about them. When you are on a faith path, you ask God to help you so you are able to discern.

When I react quickly or strictly out of emotions things seem to fall apart. But when God leads or guides you into a decision it is fruitful, and your blessings multiply! When you think things through, you are able to maintain your position until God has instructed you further.

It’s not easy. But if you stay on the path and keep asking God to lead – you’ll be much happier. Believe He has the power and let the “powers” that you think you have go because ultimately, He is the one in control.

Your Promise Is the Reason I Don’t Fear Solitude

E94C33D7-A2ED-4674-8AFF-FF34BB26A8B9

Lord I feel your presence and I hear you whisper in my heart, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” I know that life will be hard. But your promise is the reason I can be alone when others can’t. It’s why I’m not afraid of solitude. When I’m riding my bike, gently, you whisper in my heart: “This road will not be easy, but you will get through it. In the end you will be with me…forever!” ~my thoughts as a teenager

Don’t let anyone throw you off your trajectory. No matter what happens stay focused and on your path. Don’t get off balance. It is easy to get distracted. Some situations will hinder you. But if you stay on your course, sooner or later you will be rewarded. I’m constructing a self-help book for others to learn how to handle grief and overcome negative thoughts. I want it to be a quality work.

One of the questions I ask is, “Can you remember a time when God was really there for you?” Were you ever in a desperate place? A moment to moment kind-of-place? We’re you just confident you would overcome? Sometimes we know that God will deliver us. Jesus says, “ I will ask the Father and He will give you an advocate to help you and be with you forever” (John 14:16). I am open to comments, and remember that writing your thoughts down can be a healthy pattern.

Spiritual

The Light Is Not at the End of the Tunnel!

There is a light, but it doesn’t have to be at the “end” of the tunnel. Remember that. We are supposed to work through pain in life not try to avoid it. Don’t complain about it. Life is not meant to be one of convenience, but one of FAITH and PERSISTENCE.

At sixteen, when I was finally home and out of the hospital—I still had no idea how I would make it. My identity was crushed, and I knew it would be difficult for others to relate to me because the accident transformed my life!

Those years were vital—to read and study Scripture, to listen to live prayer on the radio most nights, and to talk to GOD daily. I would not have come this far without doing those things! And I still remind myself to practice them.

Self-help

When GOD is involved…

Listen to the Holy Spirit. Pray and seek after God. The Holy Spirit will tell you WHAT TO DO in your heart. The Holy Spirit invites us in, but when we are off tune we cannot hear from Him. Ask to be led, and simply start by talking to Him.

When you are praying you are RECEIVING. Whether you realize it or not, God is giving. You open the gateway. The Holy Spirit gives you guidance. You may not hear directly from the Lord. But once you ask, there is an unfolding of events that take place.

You may not see your miracle or dream occurring, but something is happening behind the scenes—this is what the essence of faith is: The ability to see something good in your life with no evidence of it. You create the experience!

Seasons Greetings! Update On Me!🎄🎅

Dear friends,

As you may know, I opted to have an elective surgery on October 2 that left me in the hospital for a full week. When I was finally discharged, I had to go back for almost an additional week due to an infection that could’ve been prevented if the problem were detected early enough. I am happy to say I am at home now and doing much better!

I’m extremely grateful for everyday of health and healing I am able to experience. I hadn’t spent that much time in the hospital since my accident that happened when I was sixteen years old. Since the surgery, my condition has improved and I no longer have an ailment I suffered from for way too long.

I am reminded of the quote shared by the great abolitionist, Frederick Douglass, an American Slave that dates back to his book published back in 1845. The popular passage still resonates. He writes: “I date the entertainment of a deep conviction that slavery would not always hold me within its foul embrace, and in the darkest hours of my career this living word of faith and spirit of hope departed not from me but remained like ministering angels to cheer me through the gloom.”

He continues, “This good spirit was from God and to Him I offer thanksgiving and praise!” How does this timeless verse relate to me?  Well, it doesn’t–directly. As a survivor, I can choose to take the victim mentality though and not try to accomplish all I know I can. But Douglass stood up for his rights and even taught himself how to read and write, and I have rights, too. I am not limited in my abilities because no one knows what God can do.

What Douglass wrote speaks to my soul and it can speak to yours, also. His knowledge of God and the fact that He would set him free is parallel with my knowledge that God will set me free of any bondage in my predicament, thoughts, or attitude. Your challenge may be different from my own, but how can you apply this passage by Frederick Douglass to your own life?

What are you confident about and know you will overcome? Have you ever felt caught up in a situation you didn’t know you could get out of? Did you just know you’d be freed from it? Sometimes we just know that God will deliver us! Was there a time when you knew that only He could help you? Feel free to openly share with me in the comments. I’d love to read your thoughts and get back to you.

May you have a very Merry Christmas and may the Lord Jesus be with you this holiday season and all the days of your lives,

~Zina Hermez

P.S. I was wondering if you were able to catch my Facebook Live interview this past August with Patricia Durgin, the Christian Message coach, from Marketers on A Mission? I recount details of my book Not Without God : A Story of Survival and talk about the accident I was in as a teenager, how I overcame through my faith in the Lord, hard work, and determination.

I also get in depth about my upcoming one, Hope After the Storm. It will be the second in my II part, Not Without God series. In the video, I explain the structure and how it is designed. It’s a narrative like my first, but it gives readers an opportunity to also reflect and write in journal sections at the end of chapters. I also give tips on how to market or pre-launch your own book material or message.

Three Ways to Begin Your (DREAM) Writing!

Did you know that 80 percent of Americans think they should write a book? Most of them will never do it. People get intimidated by the work. They don’t know how to find a publisher or even self-publish. They never try or give up because it seems too difficult, or they don’t know how to get started. These days, writers can self-publish with tools on-line, and there are ways to get your book printed by on-demand or you can go the route of Indie publishing if you’re feeling especially productive. Whether you publish independently, with a hybrid company, or with a traditional publisher–you are still responsible for marketing. Be aware. Authors are not only writers, they are marketers, “experts,” salespeople, speakers, and we wear many hats!

Keep a Diary or Journal

I would not suggest for you to publish simply because you want to. Millions of people write books each year, but the majority of them are not necessary or good. You don’t have to be born with the talent, but you have to practice! You can start by writing for fifteen minutes a day. You can then reread what you wrote as a way to reflect and recognize any thought patterns. You can add more or rewrite to help change any negative attitudes. You can’t heal from what you don’t acknowledge. Writing can be therapeutic. I’ve practiced this technique since I was a teenager. Write somewhere where you can focus and edit. If you can’t find the time to write every day, write for one to two hours a week. Three hours or more of writing per week would be an ideal schedule to begin.

Find a Writer’s Community

What do you want to write about? Who will be in your audience? Will you create a blog? You can start a free blog at WordPress.com or Blogger.com. You can start a blog at WordPress.org, but you would have to purchase hosting. I’ve bought a domain at Godaddy.com (I am not an affiliate of any of these companies). Connect with other writers: join a writers’ group, attend a writers’ conference, share your writing with your friends or family and ask for honest feedback but ask them not to be too harsh. Compliments with constructive criticism are healthy. You have to be willing to learn from others. Find an accountability partner (That was a new piece of advice I heard at a conference!). I liked it. Reading others writing can help also, and it is a great way to write better. The best writers are the best readers, and writing can help you be a better speaker–I have told many people.

Relax, and enjoy it!

I’ve taken the fun out of writing by focusing on trying to make it “perfect.” Trying to type the right words, word-for-word can be stressful. These high expectations can take the enjoyment out of it! Writing has to be fulfilling. I was listening to a live webinar in my Writers Guild, and I heard a man say he feels “parched” while he writes. He was asking our writing coach how to solve this problem. He shouldn’t feel parched; he should feel inspired. You cannot inspire someone else until you inspire you first. But this develops over time. Finding your “voice” can take a while, but once you find it, writing can become easier and more comfortable. You won’t regret all the work you’ve put into it!

The Writers that Changed My Life

I’m excited to be an author now. But I began writing a long time ago. I won my first story contest in the second grade! I’ll never forget it. I won many. My teacher was so happy for me. She comprised a nice booklet with all my stories made of colorful construction paper. It was such an accomplishment!

At sixteen in the hospital I wrote after a bad vehicular accident. Hooked up to machines with a breathing tube down my throat, the first few weeks I had to write. It was the only way to communicate; I couldn’t talk. I still have all my notes of black marker scribbles on white and yellow cutouts.

I kept thick bible-sized journals while I was in college (they’ve since been shredded), and wrote just about every night. Some nights I wrote more than others depending upon what was going on in my life. Several years ago, I sent an email to a writer in west Michigan and asked him for advice.

He directed me to a few conferences, and one of them was the Breathe Conference (https://breatheconference.com/home/)! He also told me I should get involved with an on-line group called Fellowship of Christian Writers. I went through their application process and received a letter of acceptance!

I wrote a heartfelt email to all (800) members, and was promptly responded to by a famous editor! I closely followed his emails and promotional material and learned how to write a book proposal. If you’re interested, there are different formats. I used “Formatting & Submitting Your Manuscript” by Chuck Sambuchino and the Editors of Writer’s Digest Books.

I also took a creative writing course by another one of the on-line group members. Last year, I was a part of a Writer’s Guild and it really helped. I watched live webinars with people like Donald Miller and DiAnn Mills. I had a chance to really study the craft with a wonderful writing coach and other speakers.

The authors who’ve mentored me have really blessed my life! You have to go after your dreams! Life is not meant for you to be complacent. Reach for the unattainable. Achieve what you never thought was possible! I’ve had the honor of sharing my stories with thousands, and I hope to reach millions!

The Human Body (a spiritual approach)

I recently came across a sermon by the well-known, Louie Giglio of the Passion Conferences. If you haven’t heard of Passion, it’s a global tour aimed at ministering to young adults between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five. It’s an event I missed out on while I was in college. The headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia. There are speakers and music artists – some that I’ve seen perform at other venues!

The sermon helped me put things in perspective, and realize that my problems are small. I have to have faith even when things don’t go as planned because all things are held together in our bodies and in the stars and the planets. Louie says “the earth is the size of a golf ball” in comparison to the universe; nonetheless, each of us are made in the image and likeness of Him.

He asks how we can know that God will “hold us together.” He states, “That’s really what we want to know.” He discusses the function of laminin, a cell-adhesion protein molecule and its function in our bodies. It’s the protein that tells our cells what to do. It’s the glue that holds our bodies together! It provides attachment for cells inside organs.

Laminins are in humans and animals and crucial for our survival. They’re in the shape of a cross! They hold one cell of our bodies to the next. I had already heard of laminin before, but it was great to find Loui’s video that gives such a vivid portrayal. I have made the symbols of the cross over my abdomen on many occasions. I had no idea I was doing over laminins! It’s a prayer!

Here is a clip of the video if you would like to watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSR8z_0uW5E

True Love Came To Visit

I sought after God at a young age. It wasn’t until after I had my accident that I REALLY experienced His love. I felt it through others. What I mean is, I found it in the three short months I spent in the hospital. As strange as it may seem, for the first time—my life had meaning. I had all these injuries and had become paralyzed, but I was still searching.

I lived in a good neighborhood and went to a good school. But I would ask God questions about life, and about what it all means. I knew there was more beyond what I could see. Then I got my answers. True love came to visit me in that hospital room.

Through compassion from doctors, nurses, and loved ones – I experienced a PEACE like none I had known. Life is so precious! When you are well, you may not necessarily feel like you “need the Lord.” But when you are sick, and hanging onto life by a string – you know it. And the way he comes in to rescue you is remarkable!

You can be in a desperate place, a minute to minute, moment to moment kind of place. I urge you to seek after him before the accident and before the diagnosis. It’s like not being prepared for a flood – if there were an “extreme” weather event, you probably would’ve wished you would’ve bought insurance. And luckily, most do. Buy insurance!

Invest in the One who can bring you security. Believe, read, pray, and seek! You will be better prepared in case there is an “emergency.” “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock (Matthew 7:24-25).”

God is love because He sent his only son, and he died and rose again for us! We have proof of it. His promise to redeem us from agony is proven to be true in the resurrection. There are reasons we go through what we do. We may not understand why. But if you pray and have faith through the pain, true love will reveal itself. Good things will happen to you again.

He will be the one listening while you’re in bed when you need to talk to a friend. He will be with you when you have anxiety. He will be with you when you have to go to the hospital to visit a loved one. He will be there. Every. Step. Every. Time. God truly is a fortress in our lives

Your Miracle Will Happen!

~”Thoughts” by Zina Hermez

Ever wonder why it’s taking so long? I used to think I had to wait for miracles? Sometimes we do. Miracles are a process though. We can play a part in making them happen. Prayer and exercise are my two faith pillars. They keep me grounded. I pray while I’m working out. I ask God to help in different areas of my life, and I pray for loved ones. It helps me sort out thoughts!

Have you ever become content in a bad situation? Have you ever told yourself that you can’t do something because it’s been too long? In order for a miracle to occur, you have to do something. Miracles seem to be spontaneous, but we have to act as co-creators with God by taking action!

God hears every prayer. You may be praying for one thing, but He can answer a prayer you prayed for long ago. You may have forgotten how badly you wanted it! Think about the lame man that was healed in Acts 3. He was a beggar. He wasn’t asking to be healed from his paralysis anymore. When John and Peter were going into the temple the man asked them for alms.

Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk (Acts 3:6).” Then Peter took him by the right hand and helped him up. I think the man gave up on hope because he was that way for so long. However, he still had a spark! If he didn’t, he would not have gone around leaping, excited, and telling everyone!

Remember: when you lose your hope, you lose your faith, you’re emptied of desires, and your belief disintegrates. You can lose your opportunity for any potential miracle!

God knows what’s best for us. He doesn’t always say yes, but he usually doesn’t say no when we are reasonable. I learned he sometimes says “not right now.” But we have to be mobile. What is your plan of action? He could be waiting on you to start!

How to Become a Writer (if you’re interested)

Did you know that 80 percent of people want to write a book? It’s true, but most of them will never do it. People get intimidated by the work. They don’t know how to find a publisher or even self-publish. They never try, or give up because it seems “too hard.” Anyone can self-publish with tools on-line, and there are ways to get your books printed by paying for it. Whether you self-publish or publish with a traditional publisher (where they pay you an advance), you are still responsible for marketing. Don’t be fooled. Authors are not only writers, they are marketers, “experts,” salespeople, speakers, and we wear many hats!

I would not suggest for you to write a book simply because you want to. You have to practice writing. Millions of people write books, but the majority of them are not any good. You don’t have to be born with the talent, but you do have to practice! You can start by writing for fifteen minutes a day. Keep a diary, journal, or notebook. Write somewhere where you can focus and edit. If you don’t want to write every day, write for one to two hours a week. Three hours of writing per week or more would be an ideal schedule.

You also have to determine your topic. What do you want to write about? Who will be in your audience? Will you write in a blog? You can start a free blog at WordPress.com or Blogger.com. You could also start a blog at WordPress.org but you would have to buy hosting. I purchased a domain at GoDaddy.com for my website. I’m not an affiliate. I’m just giving you ideas for how to get started.

Your writing is not for “everyone.” People who think their blog or book is for everyone are mistaken. I’m sure the topic you choose to write about has been written before. Someone, somewhere may have wanted to encourage others through their personal struggle, or someone may have had a similar idea for a novel.

Don’t let that discourage you. You have to write about something fulfilling. In my Writer’s Guild, I heard a man say he feels “parched” while he writes. I was listening to a live webinar. He was asking our writing coach how to solve this problem. He shouldn’t feel parched, he should feel inspired. You cannot inspire someone else until you inspire you first. My writing is therapeutic for me. I realize things because I write about my own personal life.

You have to meet with other writers. Book events, conferences, and Writers’ groups are all good places to go to. If you cannot find one nearby, you can have a friend or family member help you. Ask for honest feedback, but also ask they that are not too harsh. Complements with constructive criticism are healthy for you. You have to be willing to learn from others, but you don’t have to get hurt. I’ve had that experience before!

Sometimes we don’t follow our dreams out of fear. You may have a fear of failure, or a fear of not “fitting in” anymore. You may have a fear of going too far! I believe there are endless possibilities for all of us to distribute good in the world, be prominent in business, or successful in some endeavor.

It’s hard work, I’ve stayed up many nights trying to type the right words and the right messages. The high expectations I put on myself are not from the Lord, though. What I mean is, He may have put the idea to write in my heart. But He does not expect perfectionism. In all my articles, I strive to do what I long to–help someone else!

You Can’t Stay Where You Are

I accomplished what I set out to do—become independent. I’m teaching and writing. Both are my passions! I’m able to support myself. Of course there are other things I’d like to accomplish, but they are too many to list. Maybe, get on national television? Buy a house. Drive a BMW! Material things are not my concern though. I seek after what others do, friendships, and enough love! I have known hardship. Have you ever experienced it?dreambig1

What was the cause? Abandonment? Google.com defines it as a condition that is difficult to endure. I wish I had a solution, or a way to work around it. I don’t. No matter how painful it is, you have to go through it! When I’m going through it, I pray and exercise. You need to be strong enough to defeat pain both mentally and physically.

Let your vision be greater than your circumstances. It may seem like there is no way out. But you WILL overcome. As I write notes for this article on my cell phone, I’m on an elliptical. I couldn’t work out the way I do now. I even saw myself being an educator when I was young. I remember watching my teacher. He was full of passion while he taught. I thought, I’m going to do this one day. I just knew it in my heart!

Never stop giving thanks. When you give thanks to God, family, and friends its medicine to your soul. They will help you if you ask them to. Optimism is to know you need (help) to overcome. Act as if you have an emergency. What do you want to do, today? Go for it! Take simple steps. Start with something as simple as a to-do-list. Don’t sit on your dreams for years. You’ll feel resentful later.

What you will do is not what you see, it’s what you feel when you’re in the midst of pushing yourself, going beyond your limits, proclaiming it, and in the words of Eminem, “Failure is NOT an option!”

Self-help

Work on Yourself

Are you someone who likes to help other people? Have you ever tried to clean up someone’s mess? I’m a nurturer by nature, but here’s what I’ve learned: you have to take care of yourself first. How do you care for YOU? Pray a simple prayer. Jesus says, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever” (John 14:16). The advocate is the Holy Spirit and He will guide you.workonu

My accident happened at a young age, I kept asking God what to do and all through my twenties continued. He explained every step of the way. For example, I felt Him “nudging” at me to go back to school. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I didn’t know how everyone would react to my wheelchair.

But many students were warm and friendly. I knew I would get through the year. I was able to graduate on time with everyone in my grade. Taking care of you also begins with your health. You have to rest, eat right, and exercise. I put myself on an exercise plan, and I notice that my tasks have improved! I’m sharper and faster. When you nourish your body, you nourish your brain too.

Be an example!

How to Celebrate HIS Story

I was sent these questions as a writing prompt from a Writer’s blog: As Christians who write, one aim is to give honor and glory to God. How has God used your story? How has the Holy Spirit inspired and encouraged you? Have you seen the fruit of God’s glory as a result?

When I began my writing journey about five years ago, I had no idea the amount of people it would help. I’ve written since I was a child, and as a teen my audience was myself. I wrote behind closed doors, but with the surge in technology and media we are capable of reaching A LOT more people! I’m sure you’re familiar with the term “platform” if you are a writer. According to Google.com, a platform is a raised level surface on which people can stand. If you are on a raised surface and speaking from a podium more people can see you than if you are at eye level with everyone else.

As a writer, artist, musician, CEO, or salesman you need a platform. Many writers fear they won’t get noticed if they don’t have one. But your platform does not have to be huge. Publishers are still looking for REALLY good writers, that’s why I’m involved in a Writer’s guild and Writer’s group. I work on my writing skills. So…back to my prompt, how has God used my story and encouraged me?! Many of us want to write for God, speak his name, speak of his glories, and the ways he has blessed us.

But God is not concerned with my popularity as much as he is concerned with my friendship. God is not concerned with how many followers I have on Facebook or Twitter. Before I got into this business, I prayed to remain humble no matter what, and to never seek fame in a way that’s destructive. I simply write to help others and share my experiences. I write to motivate, and in turn I am motivated when my writing touches someone’s heart. I celebrate HIS story daily by carrying my cross. And sometimes, it happens to be evident in my stories…

What will YOU overcome?

I had to read a lot in college. I majored in english and minored in history. The books I read sometimes overlapped. Something I was learning about in a Literature class would show up on a History syllabus. One of my favorite passages is by the great abolitionist, Frederick Douglass. I was required to read his book, “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave.” This popular quote out of his book still resonates with me, and many others:

“From my earliest recollection, I date the entertainment of a deep conviction that slavery would not always be able to hold me within its foul embrace; and in the darkest hours of my career in slavery, this living word of faith and spirit of hope departed not from me, but remained like ministering angels to cheer me through the gloom. This good spirit was from God, and to him I offer thanksgiving and praise.”

How does this relate to me? Well, it doesn’t – directly. But as a survivor, I can choose to take the “victim” mentality and not try to accomplish all I know I can! But like Douglas, who stood up for his rights, he even taught himself how to read and write, I have rights too. No one can put limits on my abilities because no one knows what God will do.

What Frederick Douglass wrote speaks to my soul, and it can speak to yours no matter what you’re going through. His confidence that he’d be freed from slavery, and his knowledge of God is parallel to my knowledge that God will set me free of any bondage in my body, thoughts, or predicament! Your challenge may be different from mine. How can you apply this passage by Frederick Douglass to your life? What are you confident about, and know you will overcome?

Make Progress

The survivor, the victim, the recovering addict, the overcomer, and the high achiever all have a fear in common–going back! If you fit into any of these categories, I’m here to tell you that is not God’s purpose in your life. I know first hand.

When we survive or recover, we don’t have to fall into depression, or regress back into what was hindering us before. The suffix ‘Gress’ means to take a step. God does not want you to take a step back–He wants you to make PROGRESS! I don’t know who I’m writing this for, but I felt that someone needed to read it.

When Jesus raised a man from the dead (John 11), the man didn’t die soon after that. He lived a long time! When Paul the Apostle made the lame man to walk in Acts 3, he didn’t go back to lie in his bed when Paul left town!

You overcame because you fought. You accomplished because you worked hard. You withstood because you prayed. You got better because you worked on yourself. God will not take that away. You lose your blessings when you believe the lies that say you won’t amount to anything!

Physical Therapy and Exercise, SCI medical information

NO Exercise is Detrimental

Writer’s conference – California, USA

Today I’d like to write about exercise and how important it is for all of us. I’m constantly working on exercise in hopes of reaching my long term walking goals. I go to the gym, use the treadmill, elliptical, arm, back, and leg weight machines. I keep notes on my cell phone to record number of minutes, repetitions, and time.

Doctors say we only need thirty minutes a day of walking, jogging, or some other form of activity to maintain health. However, in order to build muscle, improve drastically, or attain a specific goal it is good to be on a workout regimen. I walk with crutches after a bad accident that left me paralyzed as a teen.

I have taken physical therapy into my own hands because often times in physical therapy, I have found that my best interests were not at the forefront. Therapists often quoted science in response to my hopes, and they put limitations on my dreams of walking based on my injuries. The beauty about having faith is that when you do, you are able to defy science!

It’s amazing how good I feel, and I am improving on my own. I can complete activities that I couldn’t do before, and I have more energy throughout the day! Things that would take longer to complete are faster now. I recommend exercise for everyone. It keeps us healthy, and I look forward to it. I never miss an appointment!

God never gives up on us, we must not give up on ourselves. I believe all things are possible because I have witnessed it in my own life.

The Breathe conference posted my article!

One of the many benefits of writing is meeting others and making friends. I have met some wonderful people! Today my friends at the Breathe Writer’s conference published another one of my articles. They have been so kind since I began this journey a few years ago. Writing can be a lonely experience, but it’s a bonus when your writing is shared on different platforms. I have learned so much from them. I’ve attended two of their annual conferences in October. The knowledge gained from authors, marketing advice and overall help is invaluable!

Writing Is a Way of Life

I write to process pain. It’s a channel to express my feelings—a way to self-evaluate. I examine my thoughts. The pen is my friend. Writing in journals and diaries helps me, and provides healing. Through ups and downs, I write.

I write for joy and for release. It truly is a spiritual practice when I share what’s inside my heart. I’m led by faith. Words will stick. Words will resonate, if they are meant to. Words will remain…in books, magazines, e-books, and the Amazon-book-seller page. But it’s about more than a platform – it’s a way to peace.

We live in a competitive world. Exposure holds a lot of weight. But number one, it’s about words. Don’t focus on the fame. Don’t focus on the pay. If you write a book or other publication, be encouraged; you are spreading your message. Your words will not only change the reader, but they will also change you!

For me it has to be about reaching people through my faith.

My Speaking event last Sunday!

This is a small piece on prayer from the talk I shared at church.

As I began to recover after my accident, I knew I had a long road ahead. I contemplated my future with God. I would ask, “What are we going to do, Lord?” and “How will my life be?” I didn’t know for sure but I knew one thing, I had Him – and I knew He would never leave. I didn’t like what happened to me, but I liked being in the silence and experiencing the peace.

Talking with God, asking for his help, his guidance, and presenting my problems before him has always helped me! And in the hospital, He spoke to me each day – through the love of others, the nurses, my mom, and the doctors. He explained every step of the way, what we would do, and how we would get through. I knew everything would be okay — in my feelings and in my heart.

Spending time with God has saved me all my life. Prayer is one way I do this, and I like to speak to Him when it is quiet because that is when I can hear from Him most — in feelings and in thoughts. When I am away from the noise. I listen to Bible verses throughout the day or before I go to bed, usually.

I’ve been doing this almost every day for the last few months. If I can commit to at least fifteen minutes a day, it helps me! I feel more peace since I have started. Things that would bother me before seem petty. I have noticed improvements in different areas. So I would recommend for anyone going through a challenge, or hardship to start doing it.

I have downloaded the Bible Gateway app on my cell phone, and I sometimes listen on a laptop. I click on the audio selection, and listening is convenient. I have listened while cleaning, or even writing. Technology is great! You can study while completing tasks. We don’t have to only read anymore! Two Psalms that really speak to my heart now are Psalm 69 and Psalm 71.

Miracles are a Process

Found on pinterest.com

God knows me well. After all, He is my creator. My divine healer. God knows the secrets of my heart. He knows me better than anyone else, and better than I know myself. When we are going through something difficult it may be hard to acknowledge this. We may not believe in those situations. When in pain one may doubt. I’ve always felt His presence with me, though. As a child, I would go on bike rides. “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” He assured me often in the whispers of my heart. I knew it would be tough.

But the Bible reads, “For I am the Lord who [continuously] heals you.” I think this statement is powerful, and the word continuously means a lot. It proves that healing has to recur rather than be a onetime event. All of us have not felt good more than once. Healing may have to happen again and again in order for the ultimate healing to come. Have you experienced a situation in your life that has improved? Did your faith expand? God wants to stretch our faith! Strength is proven in moments of weakness.

New Year’s Resolution

My New Year’s Resolution was to always have peace with everyone including myself. I strive to get better, and better how I relate with others each day. I believe part of the peace I am seeking comes from self-reflection. The only way to realize my mistakes is to boldly look at myself “in the mirror,” so to speak. It’s not easy to do. It takes courage, but it is SO worth it once you become aware of patterns of behavior. When you are friends with everyone including YOU. You realize that even those that seem to be in opposition may be helping you. Getting back up only makes you stronger! But you have to like YOU first.

One of the ways I perform self-reflection is through writing my thoughts down. I began the practice of journaling years ago as a teen when I had no audience. Writing for myself comes easy. If you are not much of a writer, remember that no one else has to see your writing. You don’t have to share your inner-most-thoughts. Writing helps me, and I believe it can help you too. Complete happiness requires self-reflection, many people are afraid of it. It’s a lot of work. Writing is more than a need for me it’s a necessity!

Its God’s Timing

I think sometimes we expect too much in too little of a time. We don’t like to wait. We get frustrated if we’re in a long line. Through the power of the Internet we have a lot of information right at our fingertips! A student once told me that in her country, you could wait on the cable guy for a couple of days before he comes to resolve the issue with your television. I’m usually able fix any technical problem over the phone.

But we have to understand that in the spiritual realm things work differently. We can’t get what we want quickly, or simply have our dream come true! Success is a process, and so are things like healing and promotion. We have to work hard, and we have to learn to get better and earn what we have. There are no short cuts.

Have you ever heard its “God’s timing” before? God’s timing means you work towards your hopes, dreams, and goals but know that ultimately—you are not the one in control. He wants to promote you. But you have to trust Him. I would rather have God’s timing, it’s better than my own!

My trip to HARVARD last weekend!

I attended the Business Expert Forum at the Harvard Faculty Club for a speaking event with people who are so successful. I was one of 60 speakers on December 5. Surreal. At times I couldn’t believe it. Sitting there looking at lights, cameras, and action! It was exciting, we gave TV-like-appearances that provided live streaming. I’ve never experienced anything like it!

One presenter was an engineer from Germany who’s worked closely with BMW, Audi, and Porsche. He was the youngest speaker there, I was the second. ;) I watched the president of the Entrepreneurship Students Club at Harvard Business School give his talk. Another presenter was a coach originally from Australia (He said my speech inspired him : ). There was a doctor developing solutions for the blind, oh, and a billionaire!harvardblogpost

There was a famous actor, Jonathan Goldsmith, best-selling-authors, people who have been featured on ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. There was a guy who’s worked with the president! I met a motivational speaker to Mel Gibson! She was so humble. The speakers were professional. I watched them all in awe and amusement. I was surrounded by talent.

Everyone was sharing their message, promoting their brand, or just socializing with others. At night there were hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. I love meeting people and networking. I really enjoyed it! Clint Arthur hosted it. He’s the founder and organizer of the Business Expert Forum. He made it possible for all of us!

My older brother, Joe, got me to the airport on time at 6am on Friday. In preparation for the big day on Saturday, I arrived early and stayed in Cambridge for a total of two nights. I took pictures of Harvard Square and MIT—a famous engineering college. My sister and her husband picked me up from the airport on Sunday. I really appreciated my family’s help!

I work very hard so this was a bonus! I felt exhausted when I returned home, but it was worth every moment! I had to find four substitutes to cover my classes, but now I can say I’ve been to Harvard. I’ve even SPOKEN there. I’ll never forget it!

A Moment of Thanks – An Excerpt from My Book

“All you need to know is that someone cares. A small detail, but it’s enough to turn your life around. Love changes things.” ~Zina

While in the hospital at sixteen I kept a journal, and each night at midnight—under my covers, with a flashlight in one hand and a pencil and pad in the other with music playing in the background—I would write. Here is one journal entry:

Dear God,

I believe You are with me—listening and answering my prayers. I feel lucky to have You. I’ve opened my heart, and I’m trying to more. I don’t know how I got so lucky because before the accident, I didn’t know how You worked. But now I have found myself, I know who I am, what I want, and where I’m going.

I was thankful God saved me, and because of the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, hospital staff, and even families of the other children– I felt worthy. I think love has the power to do that, take a broken teenager, and make them feel whole.

In moments of despair I can revisit this place, it will make anything I’m upset about small. Can you be thankful for a time in your life when things could’ve been worse? Focus on how God’s saving grace helped you. It is an act of THANKSGIVING!

A quote from my book!

My life had changed dramatically, and only God could help me. I knew only God could get me out of this.” ~Not Without God

Me
Signing one of my books!

Have you ever felt this way? Was there a time when you knew that only God could help you? Maybe you suffered something, or encountered an experience that affected you tragically. If you’ve ever been in this place, you know, like I do that ONLY God can help you!

It can be a desperate place. A minute to minute, moment to moment, dependence-on-God-place. Maybe you weren’t religious or spiritual when you encountered it, or maybe you were a little but then felt like you needed Him more than EVER before!

It can be a tough place, an unpredictable place, a HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN place. I don’t wish for anyone to enter it because I’ve been there more than once! It can leave you feeling uncertain. Get to know Him. Before the phone call, the diagnosis, before the loved one dies, or before your heart breaks!

My accident happened at a young age. I had love for the Lord but it still turned my life around. I kept asking Him what to do, and all through my twenties continued. God seeks a relationship with you! Talk to Him like you would your closest friend.

We can never be prepared for an earthquake, but imagine if we had packed canned food and bottles of water, had an emergency hotline number that provided shelter, or found a charity. How much more prepared would we be?

Inspiration

Faith as a Mustard Seed

Faith is the ability to see something good in your life with no evidence of it being true. You create the experience. ~Zina

I would like to share a quote from my book, Not Without God: A Story of Survival because I believe it can be helpful. “Life sometimes happens whether we are prepared or not. I had one hope: my faith.” What does this mean to you? When you read this passage, what comes to mind? Let me repeat it: “Life sometimes happens whether we are prepared or not. I had one hope: my faith.”

Could you paraphrase this expression, or interpret it if I asked you to? Feel free to share your thoughts with me. Faith means so much. I would not have come this far without it. “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).”

If I didn’t believe this passage, I would not have healed after my accident. I could see myself getting better in the beginning even when I could not move! But it took a lot of faith. Faith is not something you see, you can use it to imagine, to believe that something will happen even when it seems like it won’t!

Faith can be likened to a mustard seed. The Lord said that if you have “faith as small as a mustard seed” nothing will be impossible. So I want to challenge you. How can you have more faith? The kind of faith that can help you overcome. Are you practicing it? Jot down any ideas on how you can expand it. How can you water the mustard seed so that your faith will continue to grow?

A Tribute for My Friend

I attended my friend Chris’s funeral the other day. He died at the tender age of thirty-five. Heart-breaking. Way too young. Sometimes I break out and cry, even when I think I am feeling fine. I can’t believe he’s not with us anymore.

He accepted me with my challenge. Although he lived in another state, he did his best to keep in touch by phone. He never denied his illness, and fought against it all his young life. He never denied being addicted.

With Chris at his sister, Heidi’s house a couple years ago!

Each time we spoke, I told him how proud of him I am for confronting his disease, for accepting his faults, and for trying to improve his life! In the end it got the best of him. Nonetheless, he was ahead of others in his situation.

He lost the battle though, and it hurts me so bad. I keep thinking – I should’ve tried harder. I should’ve been there for him more! I’m dwelling over what could’ve happened.

I’m listening to the Bible for comfort, it’s the only way to get me out of feelings of sorrow. I have faith he’s in a better place! The Pastor at his funeral was great. He kept saying how good our Lord is, and how He died for our sins and mistakes.

How this has everything to do with Jesus! He highlighted how Chris gave his life over to Christ. I love how he pointed out Chris even got baptized in the very same church we were at! “To be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord” (2Cor. 5:8).

Your Writing Has to Do Something!

It’s been over a week since I attended the Breathe Christian Writers Conference, but I won’t forget the quote that spoke to my heart the most. It came from Mike Wittmer, a professor during his Breakout Session titled, “The Hard Work of Writing Simply.”

Don’t get me wrong, there were many beautiful sayings there. Short tid-bits of inspiration. Thoughts on how to keep your writing fresh, and how to keep it eloquent. But Mike was urging us to “tell a story” in our writing because it can have more of an impact than facts!

He compared writing our story to the greatest one ever told – Jesus Christ’s. It is a story. Without the cross there would be no action, thus, there would be no story. Your writing has to do something! “Love came down and DID something!” he said. That is what we are drawn to. The action. The story.

Love came down and made the ultimate sacrifice!

(this post is inspired by an article I submitted to the Breathe conference blog)

Google – the most popular search engine in the world!

Have you ever heard how Google got started? The story is similar to Facebook’s. Two Stanford PhD grads, Sergey Brin and Larry Page created it in 1998 while they were going to the university. Facebook began because of Mark Zuckerberg and his roommates in 2004 while they were attending Harvard.

But unlike Facebook, Google serves as more than a social network. Google’s mission statement from the beginning was “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” That sounds about right! What began as a private company is now the world’s most popular search engine!

Google has morphed into a massive technology company even selling on line advertising through a service that places YOU near the list of search results! Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Especially if you want your personal message, brand, or business to be found!

Rapid growth has triggered a chain of items. Google offers email (Gmail), a cloud storage service (Google Drive), an office suite (Google Docs), web browsing (Google Chrome), and their social networking service (Google+) just to name some of their products.

A Google Plus account is just as important to have as a Facebook profile. I’ll tell you why! Google is the world’s #1 search engine. Next in line is Bing. Third is Yahoo search. Can you imagine Google’s influence over the internet?! It’s HUGE. Google even bought YouTube!

The more YouTube interaction, the more Google interaction! Simply upload songs. I started adding videos and playlists to my account in December of 2009. These are mostly Contemporary Christian songs that have helped with my recovery from spinal cord injury in the last few years. I would like to share them: http://tinyurl.com/qx46t7y

I’m a little excited because since I started my account, I’ve reached over 12,000 views just by uploading songs and copying my posts from WordPress! Google Plus has a wide influence. If you don’t already have a profile, why not start one?

“Google Plus helps with our S.E.O. strategy because our posts on Google Plus actually show up in our search engine results,” said Chandra Magee, senior director of audience development at Starbucks. If you want your business, brand, or personal message to be found, Google + is the way to do it!

(This article is inspired by a guest post I’m working on called “Why Google Plus?” for a friend’s business. Take a look at their website: http://getlocalclout.com.)

Breathe Writers Conference

The Breathe Christian Writers Conference is coming up in a few weeks and I’m SO excited to be going! It’s in Grand Rapids, and close enough for me to drive. I enjoy road trips and it’s such a great event. I attended for the first time last year, and I learned so much there! It helped me grow as a writer, and Breathe has shared some of my guest posts since then. Here are the links if you haven’t read any of them:

http://breatheconference.com/home/featured-articles/writing-is-remedy.html

http://breatheconference.com/home/featured-articles/2322.html

http://breatheconference.com/home/featured-articles/2330.html

http://breatheconference.com/home/featured-articles/words.html

I hope you enjoy reading my articles! I look forward to attending, making friends, and enriching my career. My happiest moments are when I’m able to speak to others about what motivated me to write, and about how God saved my life! When I read passages from my book in front of a crowd, or teach from it I have the greatest feeling by far. Nothing compares. I hope to do more of this!

On Teaching

“Pin” Your Thoughts

Hi you guys!

I found an interesting quote on Pinterest. Have you heard of Pinterest.com? If you haven’t, I’m surprised. Pinterest is a photo sharing website. Users can save images or “pins” to their boards. Boards are created around a central topic.

The quote reads, “Writing is somewhere between torture and fun.”

When I saw this quote it made me laugh. I immediately “pinned” it to my Writing board! At times I feel like this. Do you like the quote? Can you remember a time when writing made you feel like this? Were you writing for school? Maybe you were venturing out and trying to write a song?!

A Writing Tip!

Have you ever heard of Writer’s block? It’s when you don’t have an idea of what to write about, or when you don’t know how to transcribe your thoughts.

You lose the ability to write for a while. It can feel like “torture,” so to speak. I know that sounds extreme. But I think the quote is meant to be funny.

When you feel like this, it is helpful to walk away – take a deep breath, relax, and come back to it. We all suffer from Writer’s block sometimes.

One technique is to let your writing “cool” off. Take a short break or recession, call a friend, make cookies, watch television, or exercise!

Getting your mind off it for a little while will help you recover from feelings of frustration. Another activity will help you feel refreshed when you pick up that pencil, or click on the keys of your computer again.

I started a Pinterest account and found that I really like “pinning.” Take a look: https://www.pinterest.com/zinahermez/ What do you think?

Search for a quote. One that speaks to your heart. It doesn’t need to be on Pinterest but you may use one of mine!

You can copy an image into the comments! Don’t be shy! Who knows, you may even start your own board!

Happy Blogging!

Don’t Feel Defeated!

Life can be an uphill battle. The road can be rough. Don’t get down on YOU when it does. When you do you are not glorifying God because He is the One that made you! Ask Him for strength, and He will give it to you.

When I heard I would never walk after my accident at sixteen, I had a choice to make. I could’ve believed it. I could’ve just given up. I did the opposite, I didn’t accept it.

I fought for what I believed. I knew that if I only had enough faith and determination, I would. I never understood why someone would deliberately defeat you with their words.

Don’t let your hopes and dreams be shattered!

I understood Jesus’ love and I felt His healing presence. I saw it in everyone else. I felt it in the will He put in me to go forward. I was ready to face the challenge.

When your spirit is crushed. Remember life can be very tough. These times won’t last because they never do. After the storm comes the rainbow, and at the end of that is the pot of gold!

It’s important to remember He brought you through. It’s hard to forget when you’ve been through so much. You have to be strong, very strong.
